Things were slow at work, so we started sorting through our toolbox drawers.
My coworker pulled out a bag of carburetor tools that have not seen use in years. He is close to throwing them away

I did the same thing more than awhile ago. I couldn't bring myself just to toss them but, they're not really worth the time to list them on Ebay. The kit is just sitting in the bottom of a drawer. Most of the tools pictured were for feedback carbs. The dreaded mikuni carbs aren't popular with car collectors or hot rods  the Carb feet are handy though. Reminds me of all of those Ford ignition module wrenches that are listed on Ebay as being everything from a trim tool to a ratcheting wrench.

Like most techs I've accumulated a fair number of tools over the years that have become obsolete.

I just can't bring myself to get rid of them so (rather sad some may say) I kinda turned 'em into wall art, mounted 'em onto a 'special tool board' in my home garage.

Makes for an interesting feature and breaks up some of the bare brickwork.

It all comes down to what you work on. I still use my ignition tune up kit to change and set points. On the flip side since I don't work on cars and trucks a lot any more, many of my auto specialty tools don't get used much any more like my scanner. I have used my timing light more in the last few months then my scanner.

My truck has a carb on it, so those tools could still be used.

I just made myself a carb adjustment tool out of aluminum tubing and an old speedo cable.

I bought one of those at a garage sale last year. I dont own a car with a carb, but it was cheap and I like tools so I had to snag it up! I think I still have a spiral flex shaft driver with a hex on the end that was for adjusting carbs or distributors. I've never used that one either.

I had the KD moore set a few years ago, 20 or so. Sold the kit to a friend and I have been trying to get him to find it and resell it to me. He has not twisted wrenches in 20 years.
Some of the throttle bodies and of course carbs which are still used on several classes and often found in vintage world

Does anyone still use distributor wrenches or timing lights?

Sure... They're not tools that get used every day, but as a C2 Corvette enthusiast, mine still get some action now and then. If you're gonna tinker with older cars, then various "obsolete" wrenches and some other tools (like timing lights) are invaluable and still have a place in my working collection of vintage (and necessary) tools.
