I usually have some kind of project going on in the garage, as I spend most of my free time in it!! Figured I would start a thread to share them!!

Current project is moving some cabinets around and painting to get ready for air lines!!

The end ones were removed,

20151027_183307_resized.jpg

Then some hole repair, primer and paint,

20151103_165620_resized.jpg

This was the first rendition of the plan,

20151107_234618_resized.jpg

Then the plan changed, and I lowered some cabinets, and centered my stereo shelf and workbench... More hole repair, primer and paint...

20151119_102126_resized.jpg

Much better!!

20151121_000901_resized.jpg

That is the wall I am going to run my air line on, one main line and three drops...

Lol, plans for the cooler/dryer hook up,

What brand is your tube heater and do you like it? Anything you dont like?

I also have a low ceiling and I have been searching for different radiant options. Forced air is out of the question.

Thanks, Brian

It is made by Superior Radiant Products, model RE30, 30,000 BTU...

I love it, I keep my garage at 70 degrees all winter... They are really efficient!!

The only problem I have had was the exhaust pipe wasn't stainless so it rusted out, but I replaced it myself fairly easily,

The pole...

This clothesline was here since I bought the house, and was time for it to go!!

20150809_115057_resized.jpg

Whoever planted the thing put some effort into it!!

20150812_171051_resized.jpg

Went at it old school and we battled for a bit,

Win!!

The stump was on the neighbors side but I pulled it out anyway...

I am in the process of getting permits to add a second story and rear addition on my house... I wanted to get rid of the overhead power, phone, and cable wires that connected to the back of the house... Got that project done this fall!!

New cable/phone connection on the garage,

20150918_102255_resized.jpg

New power tree,

20151016_103243_resized.jpg

Which means the garage now has the main panel with a 100 amps!! I had them throw a 20 amp plug, and a 40 amp breaker for my compressor on right of way!!

20151016_103326_resized.jpg

This next part hurt a bit, needed access in the wall to run the cables to the house via trench, and to the existing sub panel in the garage that used to feed from the house...

I wanted to keep the house as the main point for cable and phone... The main alarm panel is also in the house, and the garage fed off it...

So there is a continuous cat6 and coax run from the city connection point, along the attic, down the wall, into the conduit and finally out in the house!! Then I ran 2 coax and 4 cat6 cables back to the garage!!

20150917_024954_resized.jpg

New conduit for cable runs,

20150924_125032_resized.jpg

New run into the house, the old garage feeds to the right were eliminated, a screw pile is going right over that spot...

20150924_125100_resized.jpg

Even left a couple pull strings!!

20150924_175144_resized.jpg

I ran one coax, one internet, and one phone cable to the top of the wall. Ran 2 phone cables to a new jack in the middle of the wall where my phone hangs. Then ran two internet, two phone and one coax cable to a new jack I put at the bottom of the wall!! Also installed a power plug beside each one after the pic was taken... Good to go now!!

20150925_132537_resized.jpg

I ran the phone feed from the house into the alarm box, then to the new boxes for easy future access,

Nice work. Lots of planning to get your place the way you want it.
Oh and just to feed your anxiety. You have one sticker on your cabinets out of place...

The idiot was also to cheap to pay someone to dig the 6 foot deep hole for access to a foundation crack!!

I just couldn't resist!!

Ok, you're just crazy......but in a way I like the hell out of!

Did you just file the cast brass, sand and use your new buffer to do this? Be honest: will you maintain the polish? Clear coat it with something?

PS: Maybe I missed it but are you leaving the compressor on a pallet? Bolted down? Any vibration isolation, rubber, etc? Can we see a full photo?

Lol, I get the "you're crazy" a lot...

I didn't use any sandpaper on the valve, just some blue compound and the buffer!! It was that easy, plus I had no clue what I was doing!! I did some research last night about different compounds and wheel types, so future projects should even turn out better I hope!!

I thought about a gloss clear coat, but it should be easy to maintain the shine with brass polish...

Here's a pic of the compressor, in the process of hooking it all up!!

20151027_183336_resized.jpg

I was going to leave it on the pallet, but while speaking to the company who made it, Sleegers Canada, the guy suggested to take it off because of vibration...

It came with these pads so I will install them as soon as I figure out how to get the thing off the pallet!!

20151206_163526_resized.jpg

I had to call Sleegers because some dummy broke the plastic breather valve while installing it on the motor... One of those "did I really just do that" moments... Doh!!

Anyway, he was kind enough to courier me a new one... No charge, even after I explained it was my own ignorance and not the parts fault!!

When I first built the garage we put in the plastic single light sockets,

painted.JPG

Then I upgraded to fancy halogen fixtures, not sure what I was thinking at the time... After awhile the garage turned to a dull yellow glo...

DSC05965.JPG

Finally went with florescent fixtures,

Like a deer in the headlights, Lol

One switch runs the three fixtures down the center of the garage,

20151206_165850_resized.jpg

The second switch runs the 6 fixtures on the sides,

Third switch runs 4 fixtures on the sides that are dual socket that I have cfl bulbs in,

They didn't have a brass 3/4 Tee, so I went with steel instead of black pipe... The guy said it's overkill, I said no such thing exists...

Do I leave it alone, or introduce it to the polisher?? :headscrat

Nice job!!! I just installed one those exact tube heaters in my shop. Just a comment on your rusted flue pipe.......I was told by the guys I purchased it from to make sure to have some downward slope to the flue pipe in order to drain any condensate which is very corrosive. Look forward to more of your progress!

The shop looks great. I love the lighting in there. It's the little things like polishing fittings that add up to be a beautiful place. Love the red colors as well!!

To hang my factory hood, I used some aluminum L channel bolted to the hinge locations,

P1010843.JPG

Screwed a couple brackets to the studs,

P1010851.JPG

Worked pretty good,

P1010852.JPG

Then the idea for the lights came after alcohol was involved, Rye and pepsi,
