I don't know anything about ODB(aka "Ol' Dirty Bastards" like in the photo above).

But I do have a bluedriver brand Bluetooth "On Board Diagnostics" (OBD) scanner for my car. It is $99 for the dongle, and the software app is free. They are constantly upgrading the software with new features, spwhich is really nice.

I like mine.

I have one from Amazon for about $25, and I bought the Torque app too. It's works pretty well. You can view real time data, and you can also log data by choosing the parameters that you want, then it'll log those when you drive the car. Then I use Excel to graph those data points. It used it to watch the O2 sensor voltages to troubleshoot my catalytic converter.

I am pretty sure that for the iPhone you will need to use a wifi obd ii connector and dash command seems to be the standard.

After switching away from an android phone I ended up using my bluetooth scanner with my computer instead. I use ScanXL Pro from the same company that makes dash command and it works really well.
