You're in the enviable position of having choices. I like to do as much as possible for myself, right now that's mostly down to money (not having enough of it). I look forward to a time when I can choose whether to do something myself or just pay someone else to do it.

However, I'm not someone who puts a price on my free time, after all - I'm not getting paid (that's why it's free time!) so doing it myself isn't costing me anything in lost wages.

It sounds a lot like most responses identify work that we "want" to do, rather than work we "have" to do. I can certainly understand and relate to that.

I almost always get excited about starting a new project. As I get distracted working on things I "have" to do, I lose track of the project I was originally working on. It then takes some effort to find out where I left off and what need to be done next.

Unfortunately, this sometimes leads to starting another project that I recently became more excited about, which leads to having multiple projects going on . . . and sitting idle . . . which makes it even more difficult to remember where I left off.

Hell, I'm going to go work on something . . .

Yep. I enjoy working on my collector cars but not the newer cars for everyday use. The everyday car work I do is dependent on the task. I change the oil, rotate the tires and do work like replacing oxygen sensors. I needed a new fuel pressure regulator and on my truck it is buried the the engine bay. I took it to town and had it done.
