I can blame you guys for this one... ever since I joined and started frequenting this forum, I've been drawn more and more to looking at vintage tools and stuff. So the other day I reply to a CL ad and score this old AJAX #2711 mechanical floor jack. It was reasonably priced but clearly needs a resto, but I'm now looking for more info on it and an idea of how the mechanism should work. It has a metal cable that attaches to the handle so that when you pull the handle out it lowers, and when you push the handle it rises. Here are some pics:

Any info much appreciated...

Hiball will be here soon. He is our resident jack expert.

Well Hiball is Here and Im not familiar with the AJAX Mechanical jacks. I can contact a supplier to see if he has any kind of info or detailed view that might help you determine if its complete or missing some pieces. Does it work?

Thanks for chiming in... it appears to be complete and functional, but the cable the controls the mechanism that switches between up and down is either broken or needs some serious adjustment. Here are a couple more pics:

Im guessing by a couple of the pics that the cable attachment broke at one time and someone used that clamp to try and fix the problem. Im sure with some experimenting you can fix that issue.
