Odd shaped garages; whose got 'em?

I've posted two threads (forgot I posted the original :shocking:) about a garage I would like to build but I am fighting with a drainage pipe that runs down my driveway. To maximize my space and not destroy my backyard I've been toying with the idea of a single bay double deep garage.

I found several threads for a 18x40, 20x40

18-20' just isn't wide enough for a fullsize truck and car IMO (unless you think I'm crazy) which is why I started thinking double deep and maybe going 16x40 wide possibly 18x40

I've been searching through Google but there aren't many complete threads. Direct searches on the site have been more difficult to pinpoint what I'm looking for.

I have a 1.5 car laneway so moving the front vehicle out of the garage isn't the end of the world if I decided to go double deep, not like I can drive around the front car anyway?

Ideally I'd put a hoist in the rear spot

Thoughts? Experiences?

I don't think double deep 1-car is too out of place. Build as big as you can within your budget and you'll be happy. If your driveway is only 1.5 deep then, like you said, it's going to be a production to move around cars no matter what.

I saw the thread title so to answer your question directly, "I do". My garage is about 24x30 (inside dimensions) and I can only get 1 car/truck inside. My garage is more of a shop for me anyway so I don't ever park anything inside anyway. About 6' of the front left side is connected to a breezeway with a man door which only allows enough room for a 14' overhead door. The original structure was only 20' deep and someone added on the addition 10' depth. The floor on the addition is 6" higher. So, yea, I have an odd shaped garage. :)

I built my garage 24 foot wide, and wish I could have gone wider. I can park 2 full size
trucks but there is no space to work on a vehicle if you put anything on the sides. When I changed my transmission I had to take everything from the side to get under it, and it was still tight. Of course I am getting older and am not as flexible as I used to be.
