Odd sized #10 washers

The assembly manual for some equipment I have refers to "#10 .030 flat washers" and "#10 .060 flat washers".

I've looked on McMaster Carr, Fastenal etc and drew a blank.

Measuring w/ calipers:
OD is 0.3745 and 0.3770 (so nominally 3/8")
ID is 0.20" and 0.206" (#10 fits)
thickness is 0.033" and 0.057"

They are black oxide finish.

Normally a #6 has above 3/8 od and #10 is 1/2" od.

I ended up getting these 5.3mm ID, 10mm OD, 1mm metric as a closest approximation I could find for the thinner ones.

The thicker ones are used as spacers and I'm missing some.

Yes they are just washers. Yes I can just glue two together but I'm simply curious who makes similar as they are an odd size. Anyone know?

Pretty sure you mean .033" and .057", not .33" and .57". Common mil-spec washers are .032" and .063" thick. E.g., NAS620C10, NAS1149E0363R. If .002" or .003" difference in washer thickness is breaking the bank on usability, you may need to reassess your product standards. A sheet of standard copier paper is ~.004" thick.

Yes .033 and .057. my bad. typo. No I don't care about .003" variance.

Searching 0.203" ID 0.375" OD does seem like a milspec size.

Now just need to find in black oxide and .032/.063 thick.

As I suppose they should be for cost reasons I find regular hardware store washers to mostly be junk. Last week I wanted washers for 10x32 machine screws. They all had 1/4" holes in them. So I grabbed a 10x32 screw and tried a bunch of different washers to find some that fit decently. I often end up w/ metric washers on fractional screws and bolts. I also often end up using 1/4" washers on 5/16 bolts. AN hardware is the only stuff I have found to be reliably properly sized but I have only used AN a few times.

Why do they spec washer thickness?
Also the factory stamps them out so there is going to be a burr on the edges and probably not super flat.

The items @Daedalus linked were not black oxide.

I can find milspec 0.203" ID 0.375" OD in black oxide but only 0.020 thickness.

I'll look more today.

AN960-XC10L or AN960-XC10 will get you a .203"/.438" washer in .032" or .063" thickness, corrosion resistant steel and black oxide finish.

NAS1149FB100332 will get you carbon steel black oxide, .032" thickness, sub in 0363 and it's 063".
NAS1149CB10xxxx is identical to the carbon steel, but in corrosion resistant steel.

I found the NAS1149 AIA spec sheet last night. FB/CB are indeed shown in table 2. But I'm not seeing anyone selling the resulting part numbers.

[edit: maybe the ones I have were special order, possible, I guess they used milspec for the reasons above, better QC]

Washers are just washers unless as mentioned above they are washer shaped shims, then there is quite a difference.

If you were to mic a box of 1000 washers you would most likely come up with a variety of thicknesses due to matl, coating and die condition.

I’ve had to take said box of 1k and find 50 suitable washers thick enough to turn them into shims, then grind them to the proper thickness.

If you’re just needing washers….

I'd come to the same conclusion. They seem generally available in all the specifics I want except for the black oxide finish.

I've done a fair bit of home electroplating and powdercoating before but never black oxide. I'll do some research. I like to learn new things.

I appreciate all the previous milspec suggestions. Thanks!

Search for precision washers, aka shims. Pick the thickness in the left to sort it out quick.
