Odd Snap-On L72S

I have a Snap-On L72S ratchet head. Normally it would have a 3/4" drive on it,however this one has an open 7/8" hex on it instead. Anyone ever see anything like it before? It is not home-made.

SO made ratcheting box wrenches with detachable handles aimed towards the industrial market in single sizes like the item in your pics. Here is a link but they have different part #, can you find a date code?
