Hmmm...that IS an unusual vise. I'll be interested to see what brand it turns out to be.

Similar to a coachmaker's vise. I've also seen them called "sheet metal" vises. Or it could just be a combination vise viewed from a funny angle. The throat depth on it is large....

It does look like a sheet metal vise or coachmakers....indeed! It also looks to have the exposed screw sandwiched in the middle of the slide. There is an old Prentiss on Fleabay now that has a slide like that....... Somebody needs to spend $40 "for the team" and go solve the mystery.

Looks like an early RH vise kind of a lighter duty or more primitive version of this one. Definitely has the sheetmetal/coachmakers jaw shape on it though. I look forward to seeing more info on it!

Heard back from him, no markings on it that he can see. He also sent another picture. I'm going to pass on it, the last thing I needs right now is something else to fix.
