Since we've got a few B&D topics, how about some pics of your vintage B&D tools. At one time they did make some great stuff.

Angle Grinder, early 90s Used and abused, and it still is kicking

Portable band saw, either from the 70s or early 80s, It has a nice steel case, I use it all the time.

I don't have any now (maybe a pro series drywall gun), but I really liked their professional series tools, they used to make a great 3/8" 90 angle drill, was my favorite, couldn't find another and ended up getting a Makita that was somewhat similar. They made a grea jig saw as well.

It's my understanding that Black & Decker used to make the Craftsman professional power tools for sears, If that's the case I have a reciprocating saw.

I have an ancient low speed drill - "Hole Saw" - from B&D. It was used by my grandfather and now by me on a regular basis. That is one good old drill. It doesn't cut fast, but it doesn't heat bits to badly, either.

The B&D angle grinder I have like yours is from the late 80's and it's running strong to this day:

And here's a pic of my big mothertrucker from the glory days days of Dlack and Decker - bought it in a pawn shop for $35. It's a 9" and you REALLY have to need it to drag this thing out:

i have on very similar to your nine inch, only it has a plastic handle.if you spend an hour or two leaning into those bad buys you know you have done something. they are just so damn heavy, i get sore thinking about it. i think mine is called a wildcat. the smaller one was avaible as a dewalt until just a few years ago. the 18v cordless also used the same head for a while.

I own the below Black and Decker 7.7 amps, corded electric, 1/2" drive impact gun. I purchased the tool on eBay last year for about $50. I believe the impact gun is rated for 300 ft/lbs. Most of the tool's casing is made out of steel. I have used it a couple of times and it works great! It's a shame that tool manufacturers no longer build heavy duty electrical tools like this anymore :-( .

Whoever took care of Dewalt marketing for the past decade ought to be a millionaire. Anyone who can take junk and make it the "normal" tools on most construction sites is a marketing genius.

Hmm I think I have the same electric impact, it's a wonderful tool, and it get's used at the track often. What impresses me, is that these tools stand the test of time. They don't look modern like today's tools, they are a no frills industrial tool, black and silver, where performance was more important than looks. It's sad to see the new stuff our there, the new contractor products feel cheap compared to these tools. I'd gladly take an old B&D any day than the new stuff. What is really cool is most of these tools come with a nice steel case. One thing about them, they all had heavy duty cords, thick suckers

Here are my two B&D power tools. A 7511 Jigsaw Kit I bought in the early 70's that's still pluggin' along just fine, and a 1065 right angle "shorty" drill. I also have a 3/8's drill that looks identical to the one Elroy has above but is marked Craftsman Industrial. I've got a feeling B&D was the source and Craftsman re-badged it.

That drill seems to have been re badged several different ways. Mine says Elu wood working tools by Black & Decker. Pretty stout drill IMHO. Elroy's says Industrial & Construction, and yours says Craftsman... Kind of interesting!

I still have this old B&D router. It refuses to die. Cleaned it up a bit today.

Made in USA. Only draw back is it can accept only 1/4" shank router bits.

The motor is so sweet to hear. I wished they still made things like they use to.

There are also a few older Black & Decker tools made in Japan... by Ryobi of all companies! These include the 7690 planer (same as Ryobi's L-120) and the 4025-10 belt sander (B-7075). Quite weird when you consider in B&D's own history that it had its own Japanese subsidiary called Nippon B&D KK.
