Hi guys, be easy on me, it's my first post here

My attached garage is 10' wide X 20' deep X 10'ceiling height
The garage door, although I haven't mesured it is a standard residential size door.

So here is my issue.
The garage will soon be getting its hoist. Given the restricted ceiling height, I have to be able to maximize my space as much as possible. To do so, I will be extending the door rails up to the ceiling so that when I open the door it will slide as close as possible to the ceiling. So far I don't see any issue.

My problem is the location of the door opener. To avoid warping the door, it's recommanded to place the motor at the very center of the door. If I had an extra 3' of ceiling height that wouldn't be an issue but, since I don't it means I'd be loosing about 1' of rise on the hoist.

What are your recommandations?

they make an opener for the sectional roll up doors that mount to the wall next to the door.

Liftmaster 3800 jackhsaft opener, you'll need to have a torsion spring system installed if you don't have one already.

You're right.
I had no clue that even existed. I quickly googled it and it looks like really simple.
Does anyone here have experience with that kind of door opener? Are they as reliable as most "regular" door openers?

I have one... They're GREAT... I have exactly the same situation you described. I super quiet, and I highly recommend them.

Here's a pic of my 10X10 door and LM3800 with the wirelessly controlled light (you can mount the light anywhere, I chose to make it next to the opener itself.
