Off center door opener

Will this work ok ?

I have a Jeep that is all most to tall for my garage and can not place a door opener in the center.. I found the pic on this site but wanted to know if there was any other things you needed to do to get this set-up to work ?

Shouldn't need to do anything just move it over. Make sure there is something substantial to mount it to the top panel. Most doors have stiles in the center that the opener arm mounts to. Most steel back insulated doors only have these stiles in the middle as well. You can probably just mount it under the top fixture/ roller carrier.

Hi guys. First post for me here. I can't believe I came upon this site. Great stuff, and at a very opportune time.
I was wondering the same thing. I have a 2-car garage door which is wood, and also has a cedar tongue and groove skin, making it pretty hefty. Currently there is a 1/2 hp craftsman opener. The springs are pretty strong, but was wondering if I would need to rig up some helper springs or something to aid in overcoming the initial inertia. I was going to move it over to about the 1/3 mark on the door.

If it has torsion springs and the door rolls up and down freely by hand there is really nothing else to do other than just moving it over. If it is balanced properly you should be able to stop the door at any spot and it should stay where it is, using it by hand obviously. If it falls a little or comes up slightly that is fine as well. It just shouldn't slam to the ground or shoot up off the floor either.

Extension springs on the other hand may need some tweaking to get an off center opener to work correctly. Mainly because each side works independently from each other.

I just did that to my door after i put in the lift, it works fine that way. i still have to watch the door itself if i have something lifted all the way up.
