So...while I still spend 25% of my work related life working on or around cars, the remaining 75% is spent sitting...and presumably rotting, at my desk. That said, I am growing increasingly annoyed with the cheap **** Chinese **** I have to work with when in the office. Two days a week I use some perfectly manufactured, precision tools from snap on. The finish puts some jewelry to shame, it's weighted just perfectly, and it's industrial strength as well made in a democratic nation. Now 4 days a week I'm in the office with my plastic stapler, plastic pencil sharpener, made in china plastic pens, made in china pot-metal desk accessories and made in Taiwan everything electronic and cheap plastic.

I'm sick and tired of having to look at and handle this trash. I need to upgrade before I lose my mind. Does anyone know of anything? I know you guys know what I'm talking about. Few things match the feel of a good high quality tool. LINK me to some good high quality tools for the office!

I have a little 3 drawer snap on tool box on my desktop. Its about 8 inches long, 5" deep, 6" high. Enough to hold my pencils, stickies, etc.

It's not much but it is something. Its snap on but it is cheap metal with plastic trim. I think I may upgrade in the future to a homemade wooden one.

Ha! I have the same little SnapOn mini-toolbox!

Luckily I have changed jobs, and I no longer live in cubicle-land. I now pretty much live in my car (2009 Pontiac G8GT!) There are SOME perks to industrial sales, it sure isn't the money nowadays....

I thought Snap-On was made in The US, not some Democratic nation that you speak off. (I guess you can classify us a democratic nation, if you want to.)

I have a Swingline 747 as well, though mine is made in Mexico. Yay NAFTA.

For pens, I prefer Sharpie Extra Fine Points. Made in USA!

HP computer, Dell LCD, Brother Laser Fax/Copier/Scanner. Made by Commies.

Nikon Camera & Lenses. Made in Japan.

I'd like to find the Snap-On mini boxes you guys speak of, are they still being made?

And its made in China. At least the new ones are...

I e-mailed the company to ask after someone replied to one of my previous posts that Swingline's staplers are now made in China. I have a Swingline 747 Business Stapler sitting on my desk right now. It's older and stamped "Made In The USA". Apparently they moved off shore with everyone else...

I have to say, i'm liking those all steel staplers. If it's on the desk and falls off will it break a toe? If so, I'm Sold! that's kind of desk top construction i'm talking about!

I've got an "Ace Liner" model 502 that my old man "borrowed" from USAir years ago. Made in Chicago. This thing is a TANK...as far as staplers go I guess.

I have a Swingline 747 stapler on my desk that was made in Long Island, and a 3M tape dispenser made in St. Paul. My Rolodex was built in the USA as well.

My sister-in-law designed that coffee cup pen organizer when she worked for Bucket Boss. :) Unfortunately, not long afterwards the company was sold and the new owners moved production offshore.
