Has anyone seen the magnetic welding bracket, clamps, welders squares or whatever the hell you call them on the new site? Looked under magnets, welding supplies and searched. Mine are in need of replacement and this is a good time to do it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

Bill,

Below is a link for the clamps sold on Harry J Epstein.

Clamps.

Magnets. Not sure if this matters to you or not, but these magnets aren't American made. Magnetic pick up tools and such are, but not these magnets.

Welding supplies.

Squares.

Not sure if Epstein's sells welding brackets, but I did manage to find you a welding bracket from another source.

Lie Nielsen planes are awesome. The Veritas stuff from Lee Valley is really nice too but made in Canada rather than the US.

Wow, I figured aside from Lie Nielsen, planes were primarily made in China.

As for Amazon, while they often have "deals" and they are sometimes the only distributor for certain items, they aren't my favorite distributor. I've had more damaged, lost or delayed packages from them. More so recently and that is really frustrating.

Amazon could really benefit from seeing how Harry J Epstein conducts business. I've never had a damaged, lost or delayed package without a email or some sort of communication from them.

No problem on the sets. I checked the price on the same pliers individually and you ended up right with Amazon on the price before any tax or shipping.

And that's a reason we don't need to worry about getting some kind of discount on this event. Their prices are fair on new things, and the prices of surplus/closeout items can be hilarious deals, given the price/quality ratio!

Now, the Liberty Ship lathe, I don't know what the street value is on that one...

http://www.harryepstein.com/index.php/hand-powered-wwii-liberty-ship-metal-lathe.html

It pays to dig through the HJE site!

You should visit their brick-and-mortar store sometime.

I have and trust me, if anyone is able to do this once in their lifetime, I would STRONGLY recommend this. They have items that aren't even listed on their website and meeting the Harry J Epstein personnel is a real honor.

Hopefully I'll be able to go a second time in my life, as this was easily the best vacation I ever had. As venues such as Harry J Epstein are very few and far between these days, but Epstein's is unique and modern enough that I'd like to believe anyone could enjoy going there.

People living in Kansas City Missouri have it very lucky to be able to go to Epstein's anytime they want to. Sure not everyone is lucky enough to live close by to Epstein's, but compared to a plane trip, this is still much closer.

This is just fantasy talk, but if I if I ever became super rich, I'd pack up my bags and move to where Epstein's is and live the life of luxury there.

so being im in australia it will be on the 12th for me correct?

Not sure how the time zone works in Australia, but in the US, Harry J Epstein Day will be Saturday July 11th 2015. This information can be found on the first page.

We get an average of two or three Amazon orders delivered a week and haven't had any trouble. Even get some stuff delivered on Sundays since we have Prime.

About 10 years ago, I got deep into tool collecting, err, I mean woodworking. Below was the stash of Lie Nielsen and Veritas hand planes I built up. Ended up selling the full set off about 3 years ago and got nearly what I had paid for all of it brand new. I know I'm off topic so I'll shut up about it now.

Only one day left until Epstein Day. I wonder if anyone else is going wait until 12:00 AM to place their order?

I am debating in doing this myself. I don't want to miss out the custom Wright wrench nor the SK shirt.

Hold the phone! :willy_nilJust before the final bell! :eyecrazy:Armstrong shirts have suddenly appeared out of nowhere! :scared:

Wasn't expecting these. But here they are. Buy $75.00 in Armstrong and this sweet puppy is yours. While supplies last of course. Sizes M to XXXL. Sadly not many of these. Only 40 or 50.

PS

Looks like they still say 4th of July. Apparently someone didn't get the memo.

Damn!! I almost missed this completely. I was just thinking to myself that "it's about time to make an order with HJE, I wonder when the next Epstein's Day is going to be", so I decided to pop over here and check.

Now I've got to quickly go through my Want List. Unfortunately, I renewed the insurance on my truck yesterday, paid the full year, so I'm going to have to be selective. Sigh...

Hah, im getting alot more excoted for this than i was expecting for new sockets and drill bits!

Last thing im trying to find is for a toolkit im putting together for a buddys 6yr old son, getting my current shallow 3/8 sockets but i'd like to get him a new ratchet, something US with an actual selector switch instead of an a roundhead sk style and a push button release since it seems easier for little fingers. Or just give him one of my many sk ones?
Suggestions?

Peoria Man, I just did a rudimentary search on the Epstein website for planes/planers, but nothing populated. Not sure if they sell those or not.

If you are looking for a American made plane, the only company that I know of that makes those are Lie Nielsen these days.

There was a time a long, long ago when Stanley made planes in America, but those days are long over.

EDIT: This post was made before Jori posted. Sorry about that.

There are a number of other American plane makers still around. Buck Bros still makes planes, but I believe their's are Asian sourced now. Some of their chisels are still American made. The planes in Stanley's Sweetheart line are, IIRC, made in Mexico and/or England. Then there are the small guys. Bridge City Toolworks. BresePlane.com, others making wooden planes. For trimming and fitting doors and such, a quality L-N or Veritas (US or Canuckian) low angle block plane (preferably adjustable mouth, but not necessary) will do the trick quite nicely basically out of the box. Or one could go vintage, or head down to Woodcraft to get a Woodriver. They're close to as good as the LN and Veritas, less expensive and Made in China.

Great. I want the Armstrong locking extensions but don't see them on the site. If I put the part number in the comment box could you order them in?

Well in the last 24 hours I found out that I'm gonna have kidney stone surgery next week and my co-pay is gonna be $1200 so it doesn't look like I'm gonna be participating after all. I'll get in there and order some stuff before too long though.

How do we order/put in our size if we qualify for the Armstrong shirt?

As noted below use the comment box at checkout.

In the past the SOP has been :

In the comments box at checkout, put

GJ Epstein's Day Order
[your GJ user name]
T-shirt size (If your order qualifies)
any requests for box art if wanted.
any other comments you wish to make.

But, I expect that Jori will clarify when he gets the chance.

I should've mentioned this earlier. Yes this is correct. Thanks bringing this up.

Sleep in you should be fine. Buhahaha:lol_hitti

No can do. Now I want that Armstrong shirt. Very, very much as that is really cool. Glad I am not married or have girlfriend that would tell me not to spend money, but I work hard for my money and I deserve a treat.

Jori, you made this day even more cool.

Yes Box Art

Box Art started a long long time ago when a customer of ours randomly asked us to draw a flying dolphin on his box. We happily obliged and from there Epstein's Box Art sprung into life. We've never made an official announcement about it. For the last few years it has been a word of mouth kinda thing, but now, with our new website, we would like to let everyone know about it. If you have a specific request about what you would like drawn on your box, just put it in the "comments" section when you check out and we would be happy to give it a shot.
