Changing tradition is difficult.

Fair enough and normally I would agree with you. In this case, this website update has been a work in progress for a long time I am sure.

Next year I am certain this will be held on July 4th.

If I've learned anything in life, this is you have to adapt. If you stay static, there is no change. At least in this case, there isn't any massive changes.

Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing the new website July 4th.

I am currently working on trying to make the transition. My developer who was helping me, has seemed to have disappeared, so I am trying to figure all this stuff out by myself. Believe me, you guys will be the first to know when the site is up. I will post a message here in the forum alerting you.

So I feel terrible about posting this, but after looking through the backend of the website and trying a few things out myself, I feel as if I can't figure it out. I cannot get a hold of my developer. We had talked about this for weeks so I am at a loss as to where he went or why he won't contact me. Needless to say I will keep trying, but at this point, it might be Monday before anything can happen.

Really sorry for the delay. I'm at a loss as to what to do though.

Shut it down - Walk away from it - Fresh start on Monday.

Spend some time with family & friends this weekend!

Agreed. Jori, please take the rest of the day off. You deserve this and we can wait. There is no rush and I honestly hope you get some time to relax with your family and friends today.

Thank you very much for all your hard work.

Have a great weekend, and enjoy the 4th (like your developer probably already is).

Jori, please don't sweat about this at all. Your business, your website, and your customers will still be there come next week. You have been wonderful to us here at the Garage Journal, and I can assure you we are not going anywhere :)

Take the day off and enjoy the 4th of July with your family and friends for a change!

Jori, enjoy your weekend and hope you have a safe 4th of July. I am not sure all that is involved with updating the website, but I can only imagine the amount of work this requires.

Thank you again.

I'm with the others, go party and get drunk.

We all know how much hard work you put into this, as well as the other events we've forced you and your staff to put up with the last few years. A delay was built into the schedule this year, "just in case". Well, "just in case" has happened. So don't sweat it. Go relax and take a fresh look at things on monday. We'll still be here, with our wallets, lining up for the event on the 11th.

Worse case scenario ? We use the old site that has served us through many events in the past. No harm done.

I'm cool with it too. Who wants a bunch of stress and pressure on a Holliday weekend? That website will still be there on Monday just like the transmission I couldn't finish up on Friday.

Go home, swat the ol' lady on the ***, kick your boots off and later on slap some beef to the grill.

So I just talked to the site developer.

Seems as if his father was ill and he had to unexpectedly go take care of him. Anyway, without getting into a bunch of super technical computer mumbo jumbo, he informs me that tomorrow morning he will switch us to the new website.

Two points to consider.

(1) After her makes the switch, the old website will be inaccessible, so if anyone has shopping carts filled with products that they don't want to lose, you better take a screen shot or do whatever you want to do, because once we make the transition it will be gone.

(2) Once the transition is made, there is no telling when it will actually take effect. It's kind of like dealing with Time Warner Cable. They give you a window of time between the hours of 8am and 11pm.

So let's all pray and sacrifice whatever needs to be sacrificed so the internet gods will take pity on us and grant us a speedy transition.

Thanks to everyone for having patience with us, and hope everyone had a great fourth. Any questions I will be standing by to answer them.

Make sure once you go to the new site do a ctrl -f5, that will do a forced refresh on your computer. Once you go to the site for the first time once it has switched over the old site will still be in your computers cache so that is what will show up.

Jori,

I do have a question and this is did you have a safe and enjoyable July 4th? Hopefully you did as you deserve a break for all your hard work.

As for the developer, I'd like to express my best wishes for his Father and hopefully he is feeling better. This is really awesome that the son is concerned about his Father.

Hopefully this transition will be smooth and I am looking forward to seeing the new site when this ready. No rush on my part, as I am just happy to help support Epstein's out. I am looking forward to this.

Welcome to the Harry J. Epstein Co!

We just launched our new website, and because it's new, there are still a few little bugs.

For instance, we are currently working on compatibility issues with Internet Explorer.

If the tool bar at the top looks a little wonky, you might try a different browser, such as Firefox, Chrome or Safari.

Otherwise, enjoy the new site and please feel free to contact us with any questions you might have.

PS

Welcome Garagejournal members and Happy Epstein's Day!

Everything has been done on my end for the transition. Now we wait. It's been flipping back and forth from the old to the new for me. Should stabilize in an hour or so.

Jori, I am given the message, Sorry, the website store.harryepstein.com cannot be found. I am using the latest version of Chrome, but at this point, I might just have to accept some bugs.

I'll do what I can on my end.

EDIT: Thanks to Lb-1911, I am able to see this new site.

Second EDIT: I bookmarked some Wright items from the old website and now I can see the old website. Frankly, I like the new website MUCH better.

Jori, I 'm having trouble with the new website! I was hoping to buy that monkey's paw that grants three wishes, but the wishes extract a terrible price in return. I could have sworn that was on the old website!

Eh, I guess I'll just buy a Wilde prybar instead.

Once I changed my bookmark from store.harryepstein.com to harryepstein.com, I had no problems.

My cart is full and I'm ready to go on Saturday July 11. :bounce:

I really like that the new site will give inventory totals for each item (once IT has a chance to get caught up).

Jori,
I know things have been quite hectic for you lately, I just wanted to make sure you received my PM on July 1st?

I had to restart my computer. I'm not sure why, but now it works fine. So far I really like the new site..... and my wishlist is growing!

The fact that the old front page pops up 'all the time' makes it real hard to build a wishlist, lol.

Other than that the new site looks and functions really good (been a loooong wait) except for the fact that I'm taken to the cart page whenever I put something in the cart. This is just annoying. Can you make it so that it works like on the old site? Pretty please with sugar on top. Thanks.

Yeah, I think I can change that. Give me a minute. :)

The country of origin page is really cool. I've always wanted to know where American made tools are made.

That old website just doesn't want to die does it? Just when I think it's finally gone it reappears as if nothing is happening. Hopefully it will take its last few breaths tonight.
