Here's my Philco, I've had it since 2008, it was my primary kitchen fridge for almost 6 years, it quietly worked great... Until, it sat for about 7 months in storage. When I went to go plug it in again, I was unpleasantly surprised when it wouldn't get cold it again.

I'm guessing the seals dried up during the storage and the freon leaked out?

Anybody know a thing or two about these? I would love to get it running again!

Bought another Coldspot fridge today at an estate sale. Consider this the before picture. Lots of rust around the bottom, and the interior is gross with rust and other questionable stains. However, it still works!!

This will be a long term project, or a flip.

I really, really love the handle.

I finally got around to finishing my 1960's-ish GE. I've had it for nearly a decade now. Last year, a wire frayed and it tried to kill me so that was the push to tear it all down and refresh it.

I gave it a solid cleaning, added some POR-15 to the under-bits, filled the doors with two part foam, then paint.

Not sure why the site flipped all my pictures sideways though:dunno:
Here's a link for right side up.

Brother in law girlfriend gave me this 1950 frigidaire by general motors, I have been slowly redoing since last year. It runs like it was new, I replaced the door gasket and painted it (first time ever shooting paint with a gun). If you turn the dial much past 3 it will freeze your beer, soda, water. I'm pretty proud of the way it turned out.

I have this EXACT fridge in storage right now. I got it from my grandma, who was going to give it to a neighbor to make a meat smoker out of it. Mine is in original condition and looking rough.. Great looking reno!! Very nice.

Thank you .. it's still working like it was the day it was built.
Are you going to restore yours?

I want to.. It's on my list of "to do's" but at a loss as to where to find parts/seals for it. It's still got it's original old chalky white paint. Not sure if I will leave the outside, for patina, or go with a new gloss white.

This is my '50s International Harvester fridge that I have been using for the last 6-8 years in my shop. I bought the repop weather stripping from Antique Appliance for $80. It keeps the fridge at least 10 degrees cooler (digital thermostat tested), and it looks and feels great. The old stuff was so dry that you could stab someone with it! I cleaned all the coils when I got it, and I de-ice it every 2 or so years.

Cool refrigerators!
I have to admit, I got a used small dorm fridge years ago. I think it spent one summer in the garage keeping some suds cool, but it got hauled up to the attic and stored away. Once in a while if we are expecting a bunch of people over I will haul it back down, wipe it out and put it back to work. Then it gets hauled back to the attic.
I don't brink enough beer to justify the real estate the fridge takes up.

1DC6AD59-58D0-4564-BDDB-E2FBB56E79A5.jpegpictures are from my old garage. Conversations with RM Wraps brought about this one.

Fridge is an refurbished Danby that was purchased 20 years ago.

if I ever have to replace it, it will be with a taller apartment sized one with same wrap.
