OK, I started a found a deal on Facebook Marketplace,
So here is a spin-off on the "Official craiglist morons" post.
I'll start it with this F/B post.
I think it's expensive at least, for what it is,
he's asking $160.00.
Unless I'm missing something?

Like all the buy and sells it's highly regional. Around us here that's a pretty typical price for a toolbox. We also pay a lot more for these same items new as well.
Well No mystery this is a bad time for many, Might have something to do with it. People not working and everything,
But having said that, buyers can't afford to pay top dollar for something,
unless they are fairly well to do.
I look on Facebook a good bit, and it seems everybody has there Items riced crazy expensive.
Now, there was A nice HF top and bottom on there, you know The US general, with the top and bottom, with the top that is the full 18" deep,
and the bottom with the drawers running top to bottom, He's asking $300.00
That's not too out of line.
This Top and bottom, probably the 1st line,

Had a craftsman tool box made the mistake and bought it. I was able to turn around and sell it for it.

Got a U.S. General Box from harbor freight, So much nicer box it's a night and day difference.

That cman set in the first post looks like the bottom of the cman line. The bottom swing out door gives it away. I bought the earlier version 30 yrs ago and noticed they were still selling them a few yrs back. 25lb drawers, no bb slides and smallish size. A few changes on the newer version but basically the bottom of the cman line. I think the latest price was under $200 for the set on the showroom floor.

Oh, I know what you mean.
I got one about 5 years ago, It was "on sale" Just the bottom box.
Has the swing up door. 3 drawers, Plastic top, with the little compartments in the front But at the time, they were giving a free (14V IIRC) drill and batteries with it. Thing I paid about $80.00 or maybe $100.00 for the combo.
I mean, it's all right, but you'd swear the bottom swing up drawer was made from "tin-foil" I'm sure the drawer slides and NOT bb either.
My buddy at the time saw the drill (NIB) (He never wants to do "any homework") anyways I sold him the drill for his son, for about $30.00 Or $35.00 IIRC.
But yeah, there bottom line tool storage gets cheaper and cheaper it seems every year. (made cheaper, and Higher in cost)

OT sort of, but I'd love to have the US general bottom box I showed above even the series one.I may have said, but there was a series one, top and bottom On M/P for $300.00. I really only need the bottom.
I have a nice top box, but wouldn't mind upgrading the bottom.
The top box is the full 18" deep. A few years ago, Lowes was closing them out.

We’re so far away in price, I wouldn’t even bother contacting if I was interested. Not worth the hassle, they can keep it forever.

I’ve seen several times where I find out later, something actually went for a decent price, I guess I was too early……

Guy in Ohio recently listed a set of factory 16” Camaro wheels that I’ve been searching for. Looking closer at the pictures, the build date on the tires were the 22nd week of 2006, “2206”. He stated “rims and tires in good, driving condition, plenty of tread”.

I contacted him that I was interested in the set, explained the build date of the tires, that they would be unsafe based off of the age and asked if he was negotiable on the price since I’d chuck them and put new rubber on all 4. Rather than answer my question and make $200-250 (which is a more than reasonable price to pay for said rims), he proceeded to argue with me how his 16 year old tires were safe and that was that.

The search continues. I asked him a question that warranted a simple yes or no. I’m not arguing with backwoods hicks who don’t understand rubber compounds deteriorate over time regardless of tread depth and usage. Anyone with a brain isn’t going to put their family in a car, albeit a high performance car that’s riding on almost 2 decade old rubber.

That being said, the vast majority of Marketplace deals I’ve made have been great and the people are usually genuine.

I’ve picked up a few NOS Craftsman USA tool sets over the years for next to nothing.

I have a cheap $10 plastic Stanley toolbox listed on FBM, well wouldn't you know yesterday I had 2 people wanting to buy/pick up. I'm knee deep in a bathroom remodel/demo/plumbing etc. So I set 2 boxes out, after emptying and cleaning a 2nd one. Inform both parties they are porch pick up,leave the money in the mailbox, address etc. I miss a 4th message from party#2 as I was sawzalling pvc,and running to HD for new PVC,I also wasn't expecting a message. Guy was "in front of my house" and when I replied 2 hours later, when I saw the message he's angry that my response was delayed and that I would expect him to wait several hours . I replied with the message that I was sorry I couldn't meet with you in person, but please read the messages start to finish where I laid out the process. Seemed simple enough for me. First guy picked up his box without issue .
