Here is my collection. Front Row L-R:
1/2 dr Snap-on A15 USA
1/2 dr Proto Professional 5446 USA
1/2 dr Proto USA 5444
1/2 dr Snap-on SW28A USA
1/2 dr Snap-on SW40 USA
2nd row L-R:
1/2 dr OTC 7157
1/2 dr unmarked
1/2 dr K-D 3246 USA
3rd row:
1/2 dr unmarked
3/4 dr K-D 2436 2-9/16" USA
3/4 dr OTC 1904 2-9/16" USA
3/4 dr OTC 1931 MADE IN USA

I know the smaller sockets are all drag link sockets, but the 2 back rows I only know what one of them is for, that is the OTC 1904. I saw Dana 60 bearing locknuts mentioned earlier, this socket was specific to Chrysler Dana 60s in the trucks. The rest? No idea.

This is a 21mm socket with the 1/2" square end cut off and a piece of square tubing welded on. Originally designed for allowing a 8 or 10mm socket to pass through and hold a strut while the outer tool rotates, I've discovered this thing is the **** when doing rack and pinions on trailblazers! Deep enough to reach into the front recess and grab the nut, small enough to sneak by the CV shafts...

GpBlvbIm.jpg

Here we have a 27mm 12-point crow foot, made by snap-on. Specifically used on Ford EGR nuts.

Another homebrew, this one is a spark plug socket gettin' it on with a crows foot. Makes changing that one pain-in-the-*** sparkplug behind the steering shaft of a S-10 slightly less frustrating.

Ok, I'm not gonna lie. It has been so long since I used this I forgot what specific vehicle its for. It is basically an adapter that lets you use a 3/4" wrench on an 1 3/16 (?) nut. Pretty sure it was for the lower ball joint nuts on f-450s with the brake rotors still on. If I recall they were salt plow/dump units for a landscape company, and with the rotors still on it was a pain in the *** to get the big wrench in there, and you could only turn like three degrees. It was easier to sacrifice a $6 socket and $8 in beer to a machinist buddy.

Thermo-Vacuum switch socket for Cadillac (and perhaps others)

Unusual_Socket_003.jpg

Tubing sockets, 7/16--5/8. This sort has been posted previously. Clearly made from a deep-well socket by machining-out most of the side of the socket.

Unusual_Socket_005.jpg

5/8 (TFS) and 13/16 (Snap-On) "sockets" which must be turned with a wrench. Supposedly for close-quarter work when spark plug access is restricted by headers.

Unusual_Socket_006.jpg

One 5/8 (Snap-On) and one 13/16 (Kal) spark-plug socket and extension as one permanently-mounted unit. The socket won't pull off the extension, and it saves adding a U-joint as well.

3/16 square pipe-plug socket. I had nothing but problems with female-square recess pipe plugs, as used to seal the drilling from the Big-Block Chevy main (side) oil gallery to the main bearings, and also used on 6V-92 Detroit Diesels (and others) The Mac male square plug sockets were soft, and I'd twist the end off. The Snap-On male square plug sockets especially in the 3/16 size, are too tapered and with beveled corners, they'd round-out the female square in the plug. These are made from a shortened #3 (?) Robertson bit in a Mac or Craftsman bit-holding socket. After the original plugs are removed and the passages from main gallery to crank/camshaft drilling are cleaned, I re-seal with brass plugs.

How about this one.... A Torx t47.... Because obvioulsy a t45 bolt would be too small to use, and a t50 would be far too big.

The T47 really is "special". There is also a similar-size, similar-design six-lobe socket that is NOT interchangeable--GFTX500E is the latest version, earlier ones were FTX500x. Far as I know, both these tools--the T47 and the other one--are both primarily used with GM seat belt bolts and door strikers.

Note the difference in the lobe shape between the "Torx T47" and the '500E.

This makes me unreasonably angry, and I don't even own a GM product. WHY? WHYYYYYY?

Thanks they are quite Tiny... but very handy I've ended up using them more for access then actual line work.

That's a great idea that I'm going to have to recreate. Thank you.

Pass through sockets for strut nuts, petcock socket, strut knuckle spreader, 1/4 metric crowfoots, e torx wrench offset for GM wheel cylinders, snap on 90 degree adapters, 9mm ten point for VAG brake pins, koken nut grip inverted torx.

Not pictured are the normal nut grips, zeal, zeal spark plug and general fancy plug sockets. Plus gearwrench pass thru, all the wheel bearing stuff, 10 point stuff, e torx wrenches, I have this nonsense for days.

I impulse purchased this off letgo/offer up for cheap, but it's a nice add-on to my Wright 1/2 drive metric impact set, as Wright set stops at 27. Plus I liked the tray, actually my first socket set with one.

Cornwell STI324LMS set, metric deep 6 point 1/2 dr impacts. 30, 32, 34, 36

Ok, so I threw a wrench in the works. :bounce:

These all (except the long hex) came out of the '58 Craftsman box I got yesterday. Not sure why you'd need a 21" long 1/4" hex socket, or how about a "double deep well" 3/4" socket:lol_hitti
This is an interesting thread, so I’ll give it a bump. This is a Snap-On S6224, which is a 6 inch long 3/4” impact socket for caging the brakes on air-brake equipped trucks. As someone else mentioned, probably what your “double deep” was made for. They save a ton of work, as the alternative is cranking with a wrench. For reference, I placed a regular 1/2” drive deep 3/4” socket next to it.
IMG_6929.jpeg

This is a Budd wheel socket. It removes 1.5” lug nuts and the square 13/16” studs from trucks with this style of wheel. You can kind of see the square down in the socket.
IMG_6926.jpegIMG_6927.jpeg

I never really liked using it, so I always used a regular 1.5” deep socket and one of these 13/16” square sockets. This one is newly warrantied.
IMG_6928.jpeg

This one is a 3/8” drive 17mm hex socket, used for VW drain plugs. Cheaper and smaller than using a regular hex driver.
