Hey guys/gals,

I’m looking for a set of metric offset wrenches. I won’t be using every day but would like to balance quality and value that won’t break the bank. I was at Home Depot and saw some Husky wrenches for 13.00. They appeared cheap and made in China

I would like to find a set for less than $50.00, anything you can recommend?

Thanks!

Are you looking for something with a deep offset or just a double box wrench?

In that price range, the Craftsman Professional deep offset wrenches are a pretty good buy. This set is still labeled Professional and might still be made in the USA. If they're made in China, I'd pass on them though.

For a shallower offset, the Craftsman raised panel double box wrenches are also decent for the money. These are still made in the USA, as far as I know.

Most of the other quality brand options are just a lot more money.

I've used my deep offset Craftsman Pros a couple times and they seem as nice as any of the high-price wrenches I've handled. The set I ordered online (the Pro, not the full polish) were US-made, although missing the 21/23mm (doubled 20/22mm instead).

Seems like a lot of people have that problem with that set, but if you call the customer service number on the wrench packing slip in the box (Apex directly, not Sears), they'll get the proper wrench sent out directly.

I like my Sears Craftsman offset wrench set too and have had no problems. I too had the missing/ doubled wrench but they sent one out in a matter of days.

Bought them last week for my home box, super nice quality. Still the made in USA set. well worth the $65 or so shipped.

I too have these in Metric and they saved my bacon while swapping fluid on a hard to reach rear diff.

The 12pc. set (Metric & SAE) seems to still be USA Made.(Lots of old stock I m guessing.)

They feel great and are done well, unlike most of Craftsman these days. They look right at home next to my Williams Super Combos

The "regular" Craftsman raised panels are still a good value, made in the USA and tough as nails.

I have that Husky set and believe it or not, they are damned good wrenches. I use them more or less daily in industrial use.

They're not cheap, but I continue to believe that the Stahlwille extra deep offset (75*, iirc) wrenches are the best available.

You can piece together a small set from McMaster-Carr, the double deep offset they sell are Armstrong. You can do a 5/16 to 3/4 set of four for around $60

Armstrong is basically what the Craftsman used to be before they were sent to China, but with a bit better chrome.

I think the Stahlwille extra deep offset wrenches are excellent. Definitely some of the best available. But the cheapest I've found them is like $130 for the 20/8 set. They are really very deeply offset and that helps in areas where typical offset wrenches won't work, so to me they are worth the money. Another very good option are the Heyco deep offset wrenches, but they cost just about as much as the Stahlwilles now and I think the Stahlwilles might be a little nicer.
