The other chunk of pipe leaned up against the bench is another cheater.

:headscrat welp, i missed that one before. Sorry guys

I'm going to have to make a cheater bar of sorts to torque the kingpins of my Dana 60 to 600ftlb while only using a torque wrench that goes up to 250 ft lb. I'm hoping I don't snap the damn thing.

I wouldn't use the torque wrench to do that, just use a breaker bar and do the math. Torque=Force x Distance:thumbup:

I would think you could use a torque multiplier for that -- hard to imagine how a cheater bar would let you do anything but peg the wrench.

Even the kind of torque multiplier used to help women and children take of lug nuts would work, so long as you know the multiplier of the gearing. They don't cost much, and would extend the range of your torque wrenches by a factor of 33, in the case of this one.

To Snapmom and other forum members:

First off allow me to apologize for two things here:
1. I am getting off topic
2. I am re-posting her picture here for the third time.

Sorry to get off topic again here, but did anyone else notice the 10" radial arm saw in her garage? Snapmom, did you happen to catch this thread about the recall on those?

I guess I worded my post wrong. You're right that a cheater bar would just peg the wrench sooner. I would be building a bar to go between the kingpin and the torque wrench, no gearing, just a bar with extra length that has a 7/8 socket welded to one end and a big nut welded to the other.

I've never seen one of those torque multipliers before. Pretty neat and I'm betting it's pretty durable too.

That's quite a **** load of pliers you got there...

The ratchet and socket are crazy huge, but i too was admiring the pliers stash....

I have a 1 or 1.5 " piece pipe that looks like black pipe, but isnt (I assume galvanized) that is about 3 feet long. That on the end of a 24" breaker bar will work on anything I ever need.

Although, those wheels are made by taking Fuchs centers and TIG welding them into barrels that were made for Corvettes. It's one of the few ways to get 9.5x11x17 Fuchs.
