Oil Burner problems

I'm Attempting to set up an old oil furnance that came out of a mobil home in my fathers shop. I have all the connections made and am attempting to run the Becket CMF65-PO burner off an in line thermostat. I have power to the blower fan, but cannot get the burner to come on, Is the because there is no thermostat attached or do i have other probelms. Any help would be appriciated.

Did you short the standard thermostat wires? They would have to be shorted to kick on the burner...

BUT... AFAIK, you can't use a line thermostat... The protective circuit may kick in and shut down the burner. Why not just connect the line thermostat as a regular one, if it is a simple contact type thermostat? Or just buy one at HD?

Don't forget you should have a safety shutoff at the door to kill all power to the furnace, and a heat fusible link oil shutoff on the oil line, too...

Thanks (nehog) No i was just making sure that the furnace would work, (worked when it was removed about a year ago) I just removed the thermostat wiring completly and tried it. Do you know a way to manually turn on the burner just for a test before making final permernat connections?

Jumper the thermostat connections on the burner control, it should fire the burner until the reset pops. Hell I keep jumpers and aligator clips on the furnace for when I had problems or after filter changes.

IS there a small ignitor or transformer at the fire end of the furnace? If so, is it getting power? Since you are using a thermostat, there is a possibility that it is not getting any electricity to it. It is also possible that the transformer went out. It is typically a little black box that has two electrodes with springs that touch some electrodes that light off the oil.

OK; this job is turning out to be a PIMA, can anyone tell me what changes need to be made on an oil burner system that origanly ran on two oil line feeds to a one line feed. I have checked the internet and it appers that a plug needs to be either installed or removed? The system is a Beckett CMF-65PO system, I thought that this would be a peice of cake to do for my father, but learned different. Any help would be appriciated.

Removed and then you need to plug the return outlet. What make and model of furnace is the beckett on?
