Oil Burner Tech Request ?

Could use some advice:

Installed a forced hot air/Kero-Oil burner. Had been used in "double wide", draws thru fornt and hot air out bottom.

Anyway, worked great last year with plastic hose stuck in Kero can for winter needs. I would bleed and prime burner and it would work great unless it ran out of fuel, then I would bleed agan.

THis season, It won't keep primed. It needs bleeding to prime to fire, just after a few minutes normal cycle. Only change was I plumbed an old copper oil line thru the wall to put the can on other side.

I can't find any leaks or problem with copper line, Do oil burner gun motors have check valves ? What prevents gravity/siphon flow back to tank? I never had this problem with years of fooling with burners. But I never thought about it...

Advice or analysis appreciated..

Don't have apic of burner/pump yet:

What is total lift height from the oil tank to the burner?

"Old copper oil line" is the line old copper that was previously used with #2 oil?
Was the line taken from a horizontal run?

Did you remove the end cover from the pump and clean it?

Is the filter new/clean?

The slightest air leak in the suction line will cause loss of prime.

Mobil home furnaces were normally set up with the suply tank level with or higher than the burner.

THanks for the response, With your encouragement, I dismantled the fuel lines, burner motor and nozzle assy and cleaned with comp'd air. I found nothing indicated so after a short detour figgerin' the nozzle position, I re-assembled and fired it up and it works great with no loss of prime . Maybe something was hidden or loose I don't care ... for now.

Thanks again

That old
"It was broke so I took it apart. Couldn't find anything wrong, so I put it back together. Now it works." story.
How many times have I told it?
My guess is you fixed an air leak somewhere.
