Oil carry over from air compressor. Rebuild/replace?

I have a Kobalt 7060HfV with the NS18S pump. It's about 11 years old. I'm getting some oil carry over on the discharge, and some oil leakage out of the upper seals on the pump. its just fine enough that I've got a sheen on the top side of the tank. Is this a sign the rings are shot? Obviously the upper gaskets have an issue.

I figure if the rings are shot, I'm just going to buy a new pump. It's at least 65$ in parts if I don't have to do bearings. A new pump is $200.

What's the best plan of action here?

Make sure the inlet filter is clean for sure. If its been ran without a filter for any duration of time, I would just replace the pump.

That's pretty good for a big box compressor. For $200 ish, you can buy pretty much any small pump out there. Have you considered a larger pump spun slower? Eleven years is pretty good but you might double that.

How big is your shop? (Or, how many air hogs do you own?) You could get a new compressor and use your tank for a dry tank and the motor for a project.

There is some risk with any choice. New pump could be **** and the warranties are really short. Larger pump? What if your math is wrong? Rebuild kit? Some projects never get finished.

You could add a charcoal/coal/kitty litter/ poly sorbent cloth pipe filter downstream and just ignore the problem. I think most people just ignore problems.

try putting marvel mystery oil into the cylinders , let it soak a day or two then put some in the crankcase , worked on few oil burning car over the years. If that don't work put some BG fuel injector cleaner in the cylinders , let soak , drain out the BG and the crankcase oil , refill with fresh oil ... if that don't work then .... junk it.

@Lelandwelds Any recommendations on other pumps?

Honestly air compressor use is an occasional thing for me. The problem is that the occasional uses that I bought a big compressor for are blasting and painting car parts. Then I need a decent amount of air.

I recently tried to prime some parts with epoxy and even with a filter and desiccant dryer I still got some contaminates. I have a new, not yet installed 4 stage filter system with a larger desiccant dryer. I want to get this resolved before I contaminate that stuff. I prefer to fix stuff correct w/o bandaids or wasting money. I really don't know much about air compressors hence asking for advise here.
