Oil change mat that doesn't fall apart?

I've bought a few of these Drymate Oil Change mats:

They work pretty good, but after a few months, the rubber backing starts to fall off, and leaves a sticky mess on my drive way. Does anyone know of a more robust type of mat to use that will absorb oils, can be rolled up when done, and won't fall apart after a few months? Or, if you have a DIY alternative, I'm all ears!

I think an aluminum drip pan would work better for this use, I use one under one of my cars to catch occasional drips and it's worked well.

You could even go cheaper and toss a few pig mats down to catch the drips when changing oil as well then toss when done.

I use old cookie sheets.

My wife thinks I'm a gem for always buying her new sheets - I must love her cookies.

I use large cardboard boxes. I always keep several in my plywood rack.

Just down the street from me is an electronics / appliance shop that has a cardboard dumpster full of HDTV boxes and the like that are super thick (>1" with just the ends opened up so it folds flat) and comfortable to crawl on and many have a shiny/glossy side that is at least somewhat moisture-resistant that helps keep any spills from soaking through to the driveway and easy to wipe clean. The HDTV boxes in particular tend to be strong and tend to last through quite a few uses before they become destined for the cardboard recycling dumpster.

Best thing is they are free.

cardboard. usually can be found for free near business dumpsters
