I was probably around 12. My dad's old Chevy p/u truck. Sat in the engine bay and replaced the oil, plugs, belts, air filter and hoses. I remember trying to replace the fan belt and could not figure out how to get the belt around the fan.

Ended up taking the fan off to change the belt. :lol_hitti

I believe I was about 11 or 12, probably close to 12. My dad had passed away when I was 10 and didn't have hardly anyone to service the family car (a '95 S-10 Blazer at the time). My brother told me a crash course how to do it before I did it, it took me forever to figure out where the #$#@ oil filter was LOL

18. Taught myself once I got some tools.

Took me til 26 to forget to check for the old O-Ring and spewed oil everywhere. NICE.

The first time on a car was when I turned 16 and bought an F150. I had helped service tractors though when I was around 8.

I'd been working on my Mom and Dads cars at 11 years of age, oil changes and minor stuff. I bought my first car a 66 Opel Kadett for $15 home when I was 12. What were my folks thinking? :headscrat:spit:

I think I was around 11 or so.

Around that same time I replaced an alternator. I was all cocky thinking I can do this. Pretty straight forward. However, when you don't disconnect the battery and accidently drop the alternator with the wires still connected, it can make contact with stuff that makes a hell of a spark!!! Broke the fusible link...

I was about 12 when I did it by myself.
I have a picture of me helping Grandpa change the oil when I was about 4.

I was probably 18. I think I actually swapped the engines in our Oldsmobiles before I ever changed the oil in a car.
