Oil Drain Pan Suggestions

A friend of mine took his car to the Jeep dealer for an oil change. Even brought his own oil, Mobil1. He checked the oil after, says they didn't even change it. They probably took his Mobil1 home with them.

Another friend had her oil changed at Grease Monkey just prior to the two of us taking a trip together. Her oil light comes on, she stops the car. I get out, see a long wet spot on the dirt road. I walk a few hundred yards, there's her drain plug laying there in the middle of the road. One of those stories that I wouldn't believe, if I hadn't been a part of it.

The point? It's not about the money.

Had Grease Monkey do oil and lube while I was out west in CO. They squirted grease all over the place except inside the fittings. And when I changed the oil at home the oil filter was loose. When I am on an extended trip I will take the tools to do it myself. And I will keep changing oil myself as long as I am able.

I bet the fukups from diy are higher than from change places. I would have to be gone a goodly long time before I am changing my oil on the road somewhere.

My current go to. Even made in the USA to boot. Several places sell these, and I have long since abandoned the idea of a oil pan that doesn't leak.

Yeah, but those are the people who should be taking their car to Grease Monkey.

I might do other work to the car at home but might find a place pretty much for that. By the time a guy buys the materials it doesn't pay real well to deal with oil. 1 spill and what a fukkin mess plus you got to dispose of it. It aint a deal breaker but there isn't much to save.
Granted you can buy exhaust parts better than some muffler guys but it cost more than to have them put on in some cases. Doing a repair is obviously different.
Once we got to modern oil, our use has also less a bit but went from 275 to 55.
