I've worn out a couple simply through normal dragging them back and forth during oil changes. I can't really think of a good fix, and I've never seen one that's made noticeably better. They're all crappy-*** blow molded milk jug plastic with ill-fitting lids.
I can say that, with a rather varied assortment of cars and motorcycles I maintain, I've found it best to have three or four shapes and sizes of drain pans and containers on hand.
Also, it's somewhat hit or miss around here whether you get your containers back when recycling oil. I pour the oil out of the drain pan into the old oil containers for recycling, and they can just grab the jugs and go.
