I bought it used and it works meaning I tested it with some kerosene. My ? is how does it draw air? Theres no vents on the side. The top door is vented but the not the bottom where the blower is and theres no holes in the pump area to draw from .And theres no where for a filter. I was going to cut a big square on the lower right side for a filter and for air draw. Any ideas?

Those usually had a side or bottom to cut out for the return air vent. They were usually marked with corners identified as where the safe areas were to cut. Some have open bottom for updraft with a mesh filter in the bottom, but could be changed to either side for side vent instead of updraft. If updraft could be set on floor with duct from below floor or sitting on a box duct for venting in from horizontal direction.

NEO55,

You're on the right track.

The cabinets are left "blank" so you can install the return air where it best fits/works.

The bottom is sealed just like the sides. No previous cut outs. The guy I got it from used in his garage but switched to wood burner. I'll probably just cut out the side or just slot the bottom door draw and filter it that way.

I have about 8" all the way around the furnace. I called the tin shop man to have a plenum made and to keep it about 8" from the rafters(combustibles) its going to be 20 3/4"W x20"Dx32"H. Im coming off to 6" outlets(at least 6 outlets) and probably will add as I go. My plan is to go thru the left wall like this. I cant go up b/c my man cave is on 2nd floor(see my other postings) Any problems doing this way? Yea I know that elbow is wrong size lol.

You need a barometric damper in the vent pipe. Have the tin shop your getting to make your plenum also make a filter rack for the side, that way you can easily slide a common sized filter in and out.

Got the plenum yesterday and so far everything going together great. I have to get the barometric damper yet and run the exhaust out the side.

Yea but it will be more expensive! Won't have a very tall intake and filter area will be very short. Do as above and select a common size for your filter if possible to save money in the long run.

This will be used on occasions not everyday as normal house would be so a few cents difference in price I'm not concerned about just making sure it won't harm anything. And in stead of cutting a hole in the side for the cold air and filter can I just leave the front lower door off and filter that way

Filter: I would think you could kludge something up that way.

Kero? I'd add something for a lubricant to lubricate the pump in the burner. Kero is typically as much as a dollar more than heating oil.

It's a little more work to put the filter on the side, but it will flow better, and be easier to keep the filter in place. If the filter is just sitting in front of the door opening, its probably going to fall over all the time.
