Every year, when it gets extremely cold, my furnace sucked air into the fuel line. I had the problem fixed on the furnace a few years ago by having a return line installed back to the tank. Now, I am having the same problem with my oil fired water heater. I would like to know what I need to do to change this burner pump to have a return line. The line back to the tank exists, and is capped. How is the pump modified to make this work?
thanks

There will be a plug that you remove for the return line tie in. There should be a location indicated on the end / face of the pump . Usually the suction and return are opposite of each other.

Did some additional diggiong on this subject on my own last night. Learned that there will need to be a allan screw plug installed into the pump through the return line fitting. Once that is done, it is ready for the piping. Also learned that there is a device called a Tigerloop that will accomplish the same as adding a return to the tank, in the event that you can't add the second line.
