Anyone else oil and lubricate their pliers. Seems like they rust awful quick if they get any bit wet. I own mostly craftsman pliers. Are you able to sharpen diagonal cutters or side cutters?

I use triflow on mine. Works great. Ive never seen or heard of anyone sharpening a set of cutting pliers. Im sure its possible but definitely not something you can do free hand.

What i typically do with my pliers (and most tools) is after a hard days use. Clean them off with iso alcohol. Lubricate hinges with triflow If required. and depending on the tool give a coating of LPS3

I've actually resorted to taking all my good pliers inside the house for the Winter. Every Springtime in the last few years, I've had to scrub my pliers down with Scotch-Brite to get the surface rust off. So late last October, I brought them inside.

I give mine a good wipe down with spray silicone every now and again. Keeps them operating smooth and the rust away.

I use 20 weight 3-in-one oil on mine, especially if I buy them used. A little bit of oil goes a long way in terms of keep your tools in good working condition.

I use CorrosionX- I even carry a small bottle in my pocket. It is working well for me at keeping rust off of my hand tools. I have freed-up stiff plier joints with it where wd-40 would not.

"Corrosion X is the only product available to the public that meets the US Navy's tough new corrosion prevention and control performance requirement ( MIL-PRF-8109F )."

WD40 - spray the joint and jaws - then a shop rag to wipe it clean while distributing just a little to the whole tool.

I had a friend once upon a time that would use a hone stone on his diagonals to keep the cutting edges clean and sharp. He was very **** about his tools and took great pride in them. He was also careful about judging the material he was about to cut with them.

I oil my pliers with 3 in 1 or what ever other oil I have extra of all though it seems like my Klein needle noose rust while oiled and in a basement with a dehumidifier :(.
