Oilers that don't leak.

I've never been particularly fond of oilers, the pump style ones that I've owned (of reputable brand) always leaked like a sieve, which for me is a complete deal breaker. So I tend to prefer the simple two piece style where you push in the bottom of the container and it dispenses a bit of oil. But recently, I've been on a bit of a lubrication kick, I made a point of buying any oiler I could see that doesn't leak from garage sales. so in the past few months I've found a 5 and 6 ounce eagle oiler that were completely dry, and bought my self one of those mini astro grease guns. What I noticed from the both of the eagle's I got, is that they look to be using motor oil in them or some other heavy weight oils
What I really wish is that I could fine a precision oiler and a general purpose oiler that can tolerate the usage of lighter weight oils like ballistol or mineral oil without leaks.

Does anyone know of any oilers that can handle light weight oils without leaking?

How about a needle tip bottle like this Hoppes bottle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013R67A6/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Have you tried a thumb oiler?

If you don't need a pump, just a can with a tip to dispense, you may look into vintage machine oil tins, like 3 in 1, handy oil, Singer sewing machine oil etc.. the older ones had a removable cap with a dispenser tip so you could refill it with whatever you wanted. Not really anywhere a can like that could leak from, aside from the threaded portion which would be simple enough to seal with the addition of a gasket of some type.

Of course, the tips on those may let light oil flow too freely, in which case a needle tip bottle is prob still gonna be your best bet.

A side note.. the new singer oil bottles have a removable cap as well. They're all plastic though, not the cool vintage tin. But truth be told, that plastic bottle will prob seal much better than any tin.

I have the same problem too. I can be given a top of the line oiler and it will leak as soon as I touch it. I try to buy the best in class tool, I have found the best oiler out there (for me anyway) is a plastic Harbor Freight . Always works and does not leak.

I have a few plastic needle oilers, they always end up coated on the outside after leaving them for a while,I never found out if it's the cap or the tip itself causing it. I forgot the name when writing the post, but thumb oiler is what I was trying to say when I mentioned the two piece type (seem to be marketed as spring bottoms as well). The tips are a bit coarse for light oils but it's manageable, I have several, if I could find a real tiny one or one with exchangeable tips like the eagle 58 and the larger one I got recently. Looked up sewing machine oilers, I did see some tiny singer branded ones, but a bit expensive or beat up for my tastes.
I don't necessarily need a pump, but I'd like both a pump for general use and something more precise. I'm too nervous to jinx myself by emptying one of the oilers I got that doesn't leak and proceed to go through the effort to clean it then find it leaks with mineral oil.

I've had good luck with the ones from Brownells in both sizes. I don't know if those are the ones you've already tried. I always try to clear the needle (by squeezing out any extra oil) after I'm done using it if I expect to leave it for more than a few hours or so.

I had an expensive Goldenrod oiler or two that leaked badly-- complete waste of money and very frustrating.

I like the Brownells needle oilers too. They have a good rubber gasket to help prevent leaking from the cap, but ultimately while using them some oil will leak from the tip onto the outside of the bottle, unless you wipe off the tip after every use. I think this is going to be true of any oiler.
