Gents,
It's been quite a while since I posted on here. Nice to be back. This question is for those of you that have ultra nice floors, i.e. higher end epoxy, urethane of any other NASA type floor that has an ultra sheen to it. Our floor is a Sherwin Williams Industrial Epoxy flecked floor. It's a very nice floor. It has two coats of clear on it, plus the flecks etc. So, there's a good texture to it but, not overwhelming.
Anyway, I mop this floor on about every week or so. We live in Lake Havasu City AZ and, there's a just a bit of dust every now and then but, not overwhelming. I've tried a couple of store brand cleaners etc. i.e. Lemon Ammonia, Fabuloso etc. The Fabuloso makes the place smell good but, I'm not sold on its performance. My mop is a regular standard heavy duty mop. I use hot water and about 2 cups of the Lemon Ammonia in a regular janitorial mop bucket with a hand compressor/ringer.
The water of course, get's dirty fairly quickly. I change it once or twice during the mopping process. Oh, I will say this. I'm mopping an RV garage which is 16' wide by 53' long and, an attached 2.5 car garage that's about 30' wide by 22' or so deep. So, that's why the one, maybe two changes in water/ammonia solution.
But, here's the deal. When completely done, my floor doesn't really have any shine. Yeah, it's like a satin finish. But, here's something. When completely done with the mop, I can get one of my Costco yellow microfiber cloths and, get it wet with clean, hot water and, get down on my knees and hand wipe a section of that floor. What comes up is a grey film. I wipe it again and there's nothing on the rag.
When I stand back, you can clearly see where I've hand wiped, vs where I didn't. So, OBVIOUSLY, my mopping practice and or materials need improvement or a complete change. My floor is clean when done, but, not "squeaky"clean like i'd like it. And, if this floor was as nice as some of yours, you surely would not the results of my mopping.
So, the question, what do you guys use, types of mops i.e. "Sponge" type, wool type etc.? And, what chemicals/ingredients, mixtures do you use? The sponge mops I see are for tiny floors. It would take me three times as long with one of those but, if that's what's needed, well, guess what, ya gotta do what ya gotta do for a preferred result. Thanks way in advance for any help here.
