It would seem that the two units are substantially different capacities; the question is which capacity do you need? Comparing one to another with 30% greater capacity doesn’t make sense.

You need to size the a/c unit correctly, google an a/c (btu) calculator. To large a unit and it will be constantly short cycling and leave you with an overly humid environment.

You don't give location -- how you are going to use the space. Do you need the unit to heat -- how cold does it get in your area?

I'd trust Mitsubishi more than the Pioneer/MrCool. Mitsubishi has been in the mini-split game a long time. They have many local dealers/installers. The one you linked to also has a higher SEER. Are you going to DIY? Do you have the tools to install (vacuum pump, gauges, soldering equipment, etc?

You need to do a ManualJ to figure out size. There are free websites online to do them. You put in the size, insulation type, door/window types, location etc and it will estimate a size for you.

Although I also suggest getting a Manual J done, that doesn't really apply to inverter driven mini split units.

Of those two, I'd say Mitsubishi only because I know they work.

Pioneer I know nothing of.

I bought my Mitsubishi Mr. Slim about 4 years ago from eComfort and was very happy with them

They have an online calculator at this link:
https://www.ecomfort.com/stories/1439-What-Size-Mini-Split-Should-You-Buy.html

Or you can download a worksheet, fill it out and either email it or send it in. They supposedly have 'engineers' on their staff who will spec out what you need

look for the 'sizing worksheet' link on this page

For a garage, I think bigger is better (within reason) because you're usually using it infrequently and every time the garage door is open, you're having to recool a lot of the air.

At least when I used mine, I didn't want to turn it on like 8 hours before I was doing some work in there.
