I have had contact with 2 people on this board that have sockets for sale- I won't mention names. I am tired of contacting them for what they said they wanted to sell me for cash money- I am only guessing a new or junior member does not count with all the senior members. I have tried to supply anyone on this board they tools they wanted and only high praise from everyone I sold to. Yes! I do clean and inspect with a loupe for dirt before sending anything to anyone!! Some people still have pride in tools!
I restored antique cars for over 40 years and my tools have been my life-line.
All I was asking for was a decent transaction for 2 small sockets in fair condition. For over 2 months now I still need them. Guess I will order new from Snap-on new. I refuse to do the "pawn shop method" like so many here are proud to do. I really thought the members were tool respectors, rather than tool junkies and hoarders.
I put on a photo of a tool and asked for your "wise " opinion of the history.
Received the "wise-***" answer- to go look it up myself! Thanks for that help!

If you are offended by my comments and reply, then you are the "wise, know-it-all" I am refering to, that just posts to increase your posting numbers. I am so sorry that I am not the "I know more that anyone" that seems to be prevalent on this forum.
Any comment from all you sanctimonious "experts" you wish to make, I will read, unless the rulers of this forum kick me off, but probably not respond to.
I have been told many times in the past to go piss-off, so yours won't be the first.
My thanks to the few really nice members I have had the pleasure to meet.

This is like the second post in three days in which someone publicly says that people on the board ****. What the heck is going on?

If you want SO sockets you are out of luck with me. If you just need some Craftsman, I have a bunch of extra I want to sell.

If this is the second post in 3 days, and add into the mix Merkava_4 to the mix, and we have a problem. I will be the first to admit that I tend to joke around as the resident grump, but I always make sure to keep track of the threads to be certain that everyone knows that I am joking about things. I have even had some fun one night with our neighbors to the North, and even then, I have to believe that everyone involved knew by the time it was over that we were just poking each other in the eye.
Why someone won't complete a sale of a tool or bunch of tools with someone that is a new comer to the site just baffles me. Their money is just as green as on old timers money, isn't it??? I would like to be able to just pass this off as some fluke of misunderstanding, but after reading the original post a few times, there has to be more to the situation that isn't apparent to the general membership. I would hate to think that the camaraderie that has made this forum such a success, is going to be taken down by a few people that don't communicate with others. I also find it grossly offensive that some one would tell another in a PM to "go piss off". Hopefully we can get these issues resolved and get back to what we do best. Talking tools, offering tool to each other, and occasionally poking fun at each other without any malice intended... Junk..

There's no "if" about it, Junk. I think the post was removed, but atvmech wrote one on Friday morning that was pretty harsh.

I hope the stuff I sent you got there okay and you were happy with the transaction, I didn't ask you if you received it and I know you didn't say anything about not receiving it.

Well, I'm probably partially to blame, he bought some stuff off me, as you can see by my above post, I thought for sure I sent it, I have sold a pretty good amount of stuff on here without any problems, I'm not going to screw someone for $25.

Anyway, I checked my "extras" bin and the stuff he bought is still in there, he paid via money order I believe, I know it was not PP, which is what I and everone pretty much always use. I use PP to keep track of what I need to ship out, without the PP record I plain forgot about it. If part of this post is directed at me I wish the OP PMed me first about the issue. Either way his stuff will be out ASAP.

Thanks for the quick response-You seem to be one of the friendly ones on here-
Need a STMM 10 1/4 dr. hex deep snap-on decent condition. Should not be that rare.

Harder to find
2BA WF96 3/8 DR. short snap-on would like nice condition
-lbgradwell has one he said he would sell when he got back to Canada about the 1st of Jan. Have sent messeges to him with no reply yet.

I am just so very tired of getting ignored that I am very upset with the people treat the "junior" members. I feel that my contribution should be as important as anyone else's on a "take it for what it cost basis"
Thank you for any help you may provide.

I don't think it has anything to do with member status, I mean I have not seen anyone just dog on the newer members, they do it to every member.

As to people not responding to PMs, well it happens, sometimes people leave a site for awhile, heck I have 3000 posts on a firearms related board, I have not been there for over a year, I'm sure I have a ton of PMs unanswered. It would be differant if he actually has your money and is not answering PMs, then yeah, you have every right to be pissed off.

I'm not gonna claim to know all the details that brought about your feelings here, but I don't think it has anything to do with senior or junior members or anything like that.

I haven't been around here very long, and so far I've found everyone to be pretty easy to deal with.

In the event I do find someone hard to deal with on a forum, well then it's time to decide what to do about it. 99% of the time I just let it slide and make it a point to avoid that person- it's not that hard to do on forums like this. Holding a grudge or wishing someone would behave the way you want them to is not going to make it any easier for you, and it's not likely to make them change the way they are.

I know most people wouldn't even be on this forum if they weren't somewhat passionate about tools, but c'mon- they're just pieces of metal, it's really not worth getting too worked up about. [flamesuit ON]

The internet has made it alot easier for people to be less than courteous to other people- yeah it kinda *****, but that's the reality. I learned to accept this a while ago and I just deal with it as best I can and move on.

LOL, okay talk about a misunderstanding. It appears that I never got the money order from 62 Bird, he does not recall sending it and I do not recall getting it, I did get a money order which I thought might have been from him but that was from UncleBuck. I will check my deposits though to make sure I didnt get one.

I am only guessing a new or junior member does not count with all the senior members.

I have found just the opposite here.
Of the forums I hang around and the dealings I have had the first ones here were the easiest. I have only purchased from members here and not sold anything yet, the purchases have went very smooth, easy and timely.
A couple of other places make you build a post count and "rep" before you can even get access to the classified ads area.

One thing I have learned is that you are still dealing with people, easy to forget when you are alone at the keyboard, things come up that can take them away for a day, week or more. Life happens.

I know that I have to make notes about stuff as well. Especially when dealing with Money Orders!

-BWP

As I sell, I will fill out the ship to address on a white envelope and mark on the back what items belong to that person and I only do that once it is paid for and it goes to the P/O next day.

Pieces of metal? Thats like saying you can find a faithful wife at a whorehouse.
Pieces of metal are found at any salvage yard in the weeds.
I am sorry to be **** about tools.

You can't always trust your internet provider to get PayPal email to you about a payment. Sometimes they get caught in the spam filters and disgarded... I've learned to check my PayPal account every couple of days for payments.

interesting thread.........

my 2cents.......i dont care if you are a senior or a junior member i will treat you the same.

if you are here to have input and help others good for you......

if you are here just to promote your ebay business, i'm probably not going to help you much. i would rather give a socket to someone who needs one before i'll sell one who is just going to try to "flip" it for profit.

sorry if it offends anyone.......it's just how i feel about it.

62 bird, I can't believe that your issues with buying/selling on this board were more than misunderstandings. Of course, I'm just guessing here, but I'm just saying that I would be shocked to learn that you were mistreated for being a new guy. I hope you get it all straightened out.

Sorry- Krusty
I dont have an ebay business to promote-Just trying to become a good member to this board. I do have some tools for sale at ebay, as some of the forum members have suggested as the best place to get top money, but NEVER have I put a link on this forum for them.

Modern communications aren't always reliable, human beings aren't amazon.com. You have to take a balanced view, some transactions with private individuals are not going to go smoothly, and may require more attention than store orders.

steve,
don't get me wrong, and i agree you haven't posted links, i have no problem with someone trying to make a living doing something that is their passion ( and i know that tools is yours). and i don't believe it is right to not follow through when you make a deal. but i beleive calling them out like this AND berating the members here for not helping you complete sets when you previously posted your reasons for being here WAS to complete sets for you to sell on ebay is a little f'd up.

OK, stop being so sensitive, it is the internet after all!!!

There's no entrance exam, you pay for your ISP or get free WIFI off of your neighbor and you're in. There's no way you can expect everyone to have the same feelings about tools or anything else. This is certainly an eclectic group, and I like it this way. How damn boring would it be if every thread was "which wax is best to use on my sockets"?? :bounce:

I guess I'm just a bit jaded, I've seen people completely raked over the coals for nothing on some other forums, sometimes they take it and sometimes it turns into a big shiite-sling, but in the end, it's still just the internet. I've seen people come and go, and one person leaving doesn't make or break a forum.

I'm sorry you feel slighted, really I am, but complaining about it isn't going to help matters much- unless you complain to those you feel slighted you- and even then it might not work.

And as I have said and others have said, I don't think your perceived mistreatment has anything to do with your post count or junior/senior member status. Maybe it's nothing, maybe your email technique rubs people the wrong way, maybe your computer is infected with a virus and your emails get quarantined, maybe people just got busy and forgot about you, maybe they sold the items you asked about to someone else, maybe.......... ?????
