The cheapest thing to do is nothing. Why not just leave it alone? You must be looking to accomplish something besides being cheap. Tell us about that...

I do not see the point in painting or anything with the garage floor. I work on it. It is a garage. It is a place to work on stuff you want, not a pretty showoff.

The paint on my floor is overspray from painting, Oil spots get cleaned up with kitty litter. Have some rubber mats I toss around depending on where I am working most of the time.

I think my bare concrete floor is responsible for a lot of the dust in my garage. I'd be interested in what's a durable covering, but easy to apply and can be done in sections. Since my garage is full of ****, it'd be easier to do half at a time.

I used garage floor paint in my last couple of houses. This house I did the floor epoxy just to try something different.

The garage floor paint was:
Easier to install
Cheaper
Did scratch if a dragged something on it
Some chemicals can effect it
Was easy to spot patch/touch up
Was easier to sweep up and keep a clean floor
Resisted things stalking into the concrete ( like oil and such)
Moped up easy and leaned up well
Held up well ( 7 years in one house before I moved and still looked pretty good)

Epoxy
More expensive
Was a lot of work to install ( had to work fast before it flashed)
Mops up easy
Clean up well
Easier to sweep dust up verses concrete
Will be much harder to patch or touch up

We will see how this works for me in this house but I would be tempted to go back to garage floor paint on the next house

Epoxy. Like the old saying goes, you need to spend a little money to save even more. You have to put more effort in to it to last longer as well. Paint will last a year before having to be touched up, especially where you park your car. Good epoxy will last for years and years.
