First off I would persnally like to thank Hiball, Nehog and everyone else that helped me with the following jack delema. I couldn't have done it without your knowlege, generosity and help.

I posted a while back about looking for a parts kit for a Hein Werner WS 1-1/2 ton jack. Hiball, Nehog and some others chimed in right away and steered me in the right direction to find schematics and parts for a rebuild kit.

With the jack placed in my large vise I tore it apart, put the new pieces in, filled with oil and nothing worked. No matter how hand tight I tried to turn the tighten/loosen sprocket......I could not get it to pump up. Checked the oil....Even dissasembled the tighten sprocket and investigated it. Everything looked fine.......Starting to get really pissed the 3rd time I tore the entire unit apart. Making sure everything was sitting on paper towels/old t-shirts in the order I tore them apart. I blew out all the oil out of every port. Wiped everything down and inspected. 3 times I did this. At this time I'm abut to lose my temper/mind.

After a few hour time out and a beer I go back, assemble the unit and try again. Nothing. As I'm about to toss this son of a ***** through my window I thought I would take the sprocket tighten/loosen gizmo apart one more time. As I inserted the square shouldered part of the needle thingy back into the hole.....a light came on .......The entire time I thought I was tightening the needle down because I was turning it clockwise......I was loosening the SOB!

The jack works just fine.:lol_hitti

Elroy is pleased you have it all sorted out

You'll also want to take note that the needle needs to be pulled back off the seat as you tighten the assembly into the main block. If you don't have it pulled back you take the risk of jambing the needle and doing damage.

As you discovered, turning the release knob right turns the star gear on the release valve left.
