Great vise, great resto, and a nonswivel base means it won't break at the swivel, a big plus IMO.

BUT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,self imposed suckage is no suckage even if its deserved. You disrespect your tool brothers ability to determine a good tool deal from a great tool deal from an armed robbery. Give us a chance to rate your purchase. BTW can I borrow your mask and gun?

I think that the way you can tell is to look at the bottom of the vise (the surface that contacts your bench when bolted down). If it is perfectly flat so that when bolted down, the entire surface would contact the bench, it is an N model. If there is a ring around the outside edge that does NOT contact the bench, it is made to accept a swivel base. Another way of describing it would be to say that there is a gap between the vise and bench all the way around when the vise is sitting on the bench.

ok, that clears it up, it's an N model, no swivel. That'l save me from looking for it :)

I could never come close to doing as much as you did in 24 hours.

That was the easy part, if you saw what I have to move & sort through to mount this to the bench it's going on, you'd freak, lol

I have to clear off 2 benches, throw the short one out for the trashman. Then move the other one (8ft) 30ft to go where the first one was.
To move the 8footer those 30ft I need to move 3 vertical bandsaws, 2 welders, plasma cutter, 2 rollaways, belt/spindle sander, belt/disc sander, horizontal bandsaw, combo slip roll/press-brake/shear, bicycle, 2 ladders, bench top blasting cabinet, snap-on top chest, about 15 motorcycle wheels, welding bench & a planishing hammer...& about 700lb of steel.

ALL that because I wanted another vise.. :(

I did, but didn't get too carried away. :)

There seems to be a serial # on one of the jaws, did Wilton do this? Might be able to date it ..

Theres a few deep(ish) cuts in the jaws, I may buy new ones... or possibly make some news one from aluminum.

If you disassemble it, there is a flat spot on the bottom of the moving jaw assembly. The date of manufacture will be stamped there. Mine was made Nov. 30, 1956.
