I searched with no results about this stuff.

I happened to walk into my local "Tool Shed" and there was a poster hanging on the wall about this stuff. It is called "working hands'. I asked the guy about it and all 5 counter sales guys raised there head and started bragging about it. One said he use to run an underground cable company and used a shovel all day. They all told me no more cracked and bleeding hands. Well I bought some. I figured what they heck if its a gimmick its only 8 bucks.

I used it for three days, twice a day. My wife actually will touch my hands now. This stuff is great. I have used lotion 4 to 5 times a day for years and it didn't really work. My hands haven't been this smooth in 20 years. You know how your wifes have theses certain shirts you hate to touch because they feel like velcro? Not anymore.... Touch away.....

Here is a link to there site but I have seen since they sell it at harbor freight.

I have used Neutrogena hand cream for years on both hands and feet. My Dr. put me on it years ago when I had cracking hands and feet. He said us it when skin is hydrated like just after bathing. Bag Balm, ****** creme and other good stuff out there. I have not used the O'Keeffe's much but we have some.

Sounds like a good product, but Bag Balm is the best thing I've used. I'm a pharmacist & often recommend it. I've had lots of folks come back to thank me for turning them on to it.

Hmm, I'll have to check it out. I've used Bag Balm to great benefit during those lovely upstate NY winters, however had to be careful when I used it, as my hands would be pretty oily. I would use it before heading out for nordic ski practice, leading to some pretty grody gloves.

Bag Balm is great for small cuts and scrapes; has Lanolin in it. Being a country boy, I've used Bag Balm for a first aid ointment for years. It is a bit oily for a hand lotion though.

Will have to try the O'Keeffe's Working Hands! Have heard of it, but its good to get a good recommendation for it.

My better half works in a hardware store, carrying salt, sand, shoveling walkways around the store. She has spent the last 3 winters with cracked, split and bleeding fingers, she never wears gloves. I picked up some of this for her 2 weeks ago... cracks and splits are now gone, hands are now smooth rather than like sand paper. It has worked better than anything else she has tried. I believe Lanolin is one of the key ingredants, but it is not greasy or oily, which she likes. I got it at one of her competitors stores for $7.05. She is now talking to her company buyers about carrying it in her store.

+1 on this - bought a container at my local Lowes and carry it with me. Definitely works...isn't greasy and you don't have to worry about giving up your man card when you're using it. (if you happen to worry about that sort of stuff....mine's been lost for so many years it doesn't matter any more :))

I saw that but didn't buy it - I will now. Cracked finger tips are SOP for this boy and I hate it.

Funny this came up. I just got done painting and I applied the working hands 15 minutes ago!

I works as stated, but it feels greasy to me. Like it doesn't soak in.

I use Udderly Smooth Udder Cream. It's greaseless and stainless, and contains no alcohol. It's the only thing I've found for my hands that I like, tried Burt's Bees stuff but it was too greasy and cost about $10 for a shoepolish tin sized can, this stuff is about $4 for a 12 oz. tub.

Another option that works wonders for me is Straight Arrow's "Hoofmaker." It's mostly lanolin, but has a pleasant light scent that's not all wet-sheepy.

I started using it after finding out how much better my hands were after I used it to dress the horses' hooves. You can find it at any farm store or tack shop. It's a big ol' tub for the money.

I've used this for years and have no problems anymore. Before I used it I would get the cracking and bleeding around knuckles, not any since I used this stuff.

Sorry to duplicate the above post.

I've used Uddery and it does work after a fashion. Corn Huskers - didn't like that. I have been using Gold Bond and some of those are a bit greasy. Most of the stuff that come close to working feels a bit greasy, like it's not soaking in. I use that stuff last thing before sleepy-bye. I have used some of the greasy stuff in the morning and then can't get out the damn door.

i have seen the o keefe stuff in magazine articles. So far not in any stores. But I am going to seek it out. Nothing worse then dry-cracked hands esp the deep ones that seem to last weeks.

Surprised no one mentioned the unsightly stains that get stuck in all those cracks and makes it look as you haven't washed your hands in a year.:shocking:

And the one comment about not touching certain fabrics made me laugh I know that so well and thought it was a touch sensory issue or something. My wife says I'm crazy when I say I can't touch that it feels horrible. It's really cause my skin gets caught on the fabric hairs.

This is a thread resurrection as I searched for a thread on this product. I have never bought hand cream before. I actually needed some now as my hands are extremely dry and several of my knuckles are cracked and have bled a little. The skin is actually a bit painful.

I bought the O'Keeffe's in a little tub. I'd seen the commercials for it for years. It says unscented (which is a huge plus for me). I didn't think buying it would revoke my "man card", which is why I quoted this post. I thought it was funny we had the same angle. Only tried it today, so far so good. Definitely has no smell according to my nose. Doesn't feel greasy once it's rubbed in.

This stuff is pretty good but I love HEFF cream for my hands. It works very well. Light scented and no icky feeling afterwards lol. My mom always has this stuff and I always have the HEFF so I switch off between them.

got a 2 pack on amazon. One regular for daytime and one for nighttime. Night one is a lot thicker. I overdo it watching tv. smear it in the cracks. much better then reopening those bleeding fissures every day.

I looked up that HEFF just now. The packaging looks tough, with the military look. Never heard of it before, but like I said first time ever buying hand cream. Thanks for the heads up.

Even "light" scented is bad for me. I pretty much get fragrance free everything if I can with regard to personal products.

I tried Okeefes a few times. Didn’t really care for the sort of greasy feel to it. I think I was spoiled from using a product called SBS 40. By Deb.
My hands crack like crazy in the winter. And like some have said, the wives don’t like the rough skin. This stuff comes unscented and has some medication in it to stop the stinging of cracked skin. It dries right away as well. I don’t use the term ‘amazing’ very often, but this stuff really works for me. We just ordered some from Amazon.

Yes they give some of their profit to the troops which is nice. The scent is there at first but after about 2 or 3 minutes it goes away and you really can’t smell it.

I have used it for awhile when I remember to apply. Good stuff and not horribly greasy. Ask for it behind the Pharmacy counter at Costco! Farm and Fleet/Fleet Farm stores usually carry it.

Lubriderm unscented for me. In the winter may hands take a beating and would put it on in the morning and at night before bed. I also carry a small bottle in the truck.
Also my legs get dry in the cold weather. They itch so badly I just want to scratch the skin right off. Sometimes i get scratching my legs and next thing I know they are bleeding. Lubriderm morning and night takes care of that problem!

I’m an O’Keefe’s user too. I just forget to put it on before the cracking starts! So, I superglue the cracks and start the O’Keefe’s regimen. Lather, rinse, repeat...

We were reminded a few weeks ago by our daughter of the Okeefes. I mentioned that I could tell it is winter when the skin on my thumbs has started cracking. First got the tub which has a weird consistency to it. Then got the tube. I much prefer the tube stuff.

Most hardware stores around me carry the O'Keeffe's,
The last can I bought was from Ace Hardware. I keep it next to the shop sink.

Superglue is the best thing for finger cracks

I'm reluctant to change my hand lotion. I use cornhuskers. It's cheap and works. I forget to use it until hands start getting rough.
As someone else said many lotions seem to just sit on top and feel greasy.

I've been using O Keefe's for a few years now. Just rub a little on my hands after I shower. My fingers used to crack pretty bad during the winter when all the humidity here went away, this stuff keeps that from happening. happy I found it. They make a squeeze bottle version as well, but I prefer the can.
