What are you using for fuel? Coleman fuel?

I've got one like that sitting on a shelf in my shed: It was my grandfathers.

I'm afraid to light it, though.

I learned to solder with one of those in high school metal shop (used gasoline for fuel, heated solder irons by hanging them in the torch flame) way back in 1978 !!

I, too, would love to get one. Saw one at the local nic-nac store, but someone had dropped it and snapped off the torch head right above the tank.

Didn't plumbers use them to thaw out the old cast iron pipes or something?

When I was a kid, about 15, I filled one we had in the farm shop with gasoline and cranked it up. Damn thing started leaking and turned into a giant fireball. Liked to have burnt the shop down, but I tossed it into a dunk tank for tires and pushed it under water and smothered the flames. Hid the evidence and never said a word.
Dad was in my shop last week and saw an old Craftsman blowtorch I've got polished up and sitting on a shelf. Remarked that he'd had one like it years ago and never knew where it went. Broke my damn near 30 years of silence, and finally told him!
