Pump did not appear to be working on this old presumably Walker jack so I pulled out the pump piston and saw a loose part inside, like a small metal cup. Not sure what else is in there. The jack casting gives the capacity as 12 tons, the number J3, and the casting number 218132. Would anyone have any info on the structure of this pump section or how to go about fixing it? Thanks.

I have an old NAPA (rebadged Lincoln) that looks similar to your jack. When I needed to rebuild it I e-mailed some photos of the numbers on the jack to Blackhawkparts and they ID'd the jack brand/model and fixed me up with the proper rebuild kit.

Here is my jack's internal passages. Blackhawkparts was very easy to work with, they will get you the correct parts.

Thank you so much for the detailed diagram and the suggested contact. I will follow up. Do you have any idea what that little metal cup is that I pulled out of the pump cylinder? Could it be some kind of retainer for the U-cup seal. If so, should there be some kind of tiny retaining ring in the groove at the end of the piston?

The “metal cup” is a retainer to keep the piston seal on, You are missing a small hairpin cotter pin, Check to make sure it’s not in the pump bore. Walker near the end and early into the Lincoln transition used some weird securement methods. If you can find a small snap ring, that will work also. Regardless it has to be smaller than the seal OD.

Price check with Steve in my signature, there prices are Hard to beat.
