Old 1960's carport design

Hello folks. I'm new to forum and have an oddball question. I am trying to find out the history on an old cantilevered carport structure. These are a prefabricated steel truss/column assembly. There are two per canopy. I have also seen then used as picnic shelters. I am interested in using this system for a shop design. Appreciate any help and insight.

They've been around for (yep, you guessed it) decades... Those cantilevered support roofs were cheap and worked to make cheap covered parking. They also use them for semi-hangars (eg covered tie downs) in Airports. Not sure how they'd hold up in windstorms, tho...
