Old 4” jointer question

I’m going to go look at this 4” Dunlop 103.0501 jointer.
Seller wants $25 and another $25 for a working motor. Seems like a good deal to me.
I see it doesn’t have a fence, any ideas on how difficult it will be to make an accurate fence for this?
I really only need it now to face some rough cut lumber.

Off the cuff, pending the knife situation, given the tiny table and no fence, think I'd buy a hand planer and make my own table for it (youtube), or buy a modern jointer.

thanks, I actually picked it up with the motor for $40. Might be fun to make it work. We will see.

Thank you for that the one that I picked up is labeled Dunlap but also sears/roebuck so I do believe that they’re all the same as mentioned

That blade guard looks like Walker-Turner.

I bet you could use that jointer to make its own fence, you'll just have to manually square up the fence so it runs vertically.

Just realized I don't have the cutter head locks. I have the three bolts for each blade/knife, but apparently need a set of locks that aid in holding the blades in.

Can’t even see how that might go together to cobble a replacement.

I missed that piece, when I only saw bolts, thought the might be set screws to hold the other screws from backing out.

Yeah, I am not sure either. Might have to abandon this project. We will see. I asked @Mustang67ford to send me pics of the blade lock bars.

I think these are the ones, but this auction sold a while ago. I have the set screws.

For $40, you aren't hurt yet, but don't put much more money into it. Those are just toys and won't do much toward surfacing rough lumber.

Even though I'm an old tool/machine guy, there are buys on 6" jointers or on used recent production lunchbox planers which will do much better work on larger stock.

Was just wanting to use it to make straight edges, but I think I will just make a jig for my table saw.

Oh heck, this picture wasn't loading earlier. Feeling kinda silly. The auction pic you showed of the lock looks like a dull blade in the pic. Can you see how that would aid in holding it in? Is your slot shaped in such a way that the lock can't slide out? Can you replicate that piece out if metal stock to hold it on? So many questions when I can't see it,
