Thanks for all the help with my United States air compressor. I installed the new check valve and no more leaks. This thing is air tight like a WW2 German U-boat.....lol. Definitely worth the $300 I paid for it. Got the check valve on ebay for $35. Just love the stuff made years ago, this compressor will probably out last me.....lol. One last question....I'm thinking about changing the oil in the compressor anybody know what kind of oil I need to use?

Not sure if you have tried to clean or opened the pump, but (non-detergent) compressor oils do not suspend the dirt in the oil. It just builds up in the bottom, in a sludge form.

this is by design. Keeps the sludge (metal particles) out of the cylinder, other reciprocating parts.

I understand. Saw the side cover on his and figured on a pump that old it may be worth having a look and cleaning it out if possible and little effort.
