Old antique pipe wrench?

Ok I have this old 4 foot pipe wrench. The wrench was found with about 6 inches of the end sticking out of the ground. The area where the wrench was found was a gold mining area that saw the majority of it's most active years in the 1890's. Not suggesting that this wrench is from that era.

It is an interesting piece to me. I would like to know if anyone may know something (ID) about this wrench. Or if possible a method of cleaning up areas to locate maker stampings etc? That may not be possible as the tool end has been buried for no telling how long.

Nice find. When rust is that heavy I think the electrolysis method of removal would be best.
Even then I doubt any makers marks are left.
Since its unlikely to have any marks and even with rust removed it won't be useable you may want to consider leaving it as is and just keep it from rusting further.

Stillson is the brand, I got the same exact one but with no rust and I use it all the time. Don't have an idea on the age though, I think they looked pretty much the same whether they were 50 or a 100 years old.

yea I wouldn't waste a gallon of evaporust on that, time to make a electrolysis bath.
