well got everything apart except the pole from the bottom\base. the bolt that pinches down was pretty rusty and it seems that just because the wrenches are moving it does mean it's getting loose... twisted the bolt right in half. but it's out :lol_hitti
still haven't gotten the pole from the base. need to give it a quick whack with the hammer but apparently I no longer own any hammers except one rubber mallet. I just purchased 2 new very nice$ ones last summer plus had at least 5 more, even my sledge hammer and air nail gun are gone...

yes taken without my permission yes I know who. changed the locks a while back but still finding **** I didn't know was missing.

SOOOO.... I'm going hammer shopping tomorrow:3gears:

yeah, l lost some of the cool factor on my craftsman 150, when I converted it to a Tread mill motor.
The belts were just too much of a PITA to change, esp. for a short fellow like myself.

Wait...what? You used a treadmill motor? Was that to get variable speed? That's actually pretty smart thinking. Does it work well?

I understand the feeling...of feeling like maybe you ruined something.

Best thing to do is walk away from it for a bit and just give it a bit 'o time.

Then, after a while, you will come to see that almost nothing can stop these old tools, including cast iron breaks. I guarantee it is definitely repairable. If you are not interested in repairing it, and I understand if you are not, someone else may just try to give it a go, but whatever you do try not to throw it out.

My Atlas drill press fell off of a table at one point in its life and one of the motor mounts in the main casting broke clean off. Someone brazed it back on and now I've got it and love the thing.

Old breaks, repairs, ho-made fixes...they all tell a story...these tools were all owned by humans:)

I was pretty crushed about it, kinda felt like I broke with it.... couldn't sleep last night so went back to the shop around 3am and started cleaning up the base and prepping for repair. I'm going to pick up a new press in the next week that is better for metal. I'll finish this one and put it at the shop at home.

"Should-a Could-a Would-a" as the say...............LOL.
Often it is by screwing up, that we learn.
Lots o times, we get in too big of a hurry.

or get a shipping quote and send it to me,(I'll pay Y'a back) LOL
i still love it.
if Y'a do woodwork, the atlas will make a nice High(er) speed drill press for wood.
Good luck with it, and hey, forgive yourself........................
