That really is stripping it back!

Good question. I’ve not been able to find detailed information about the early residents here yet. Some kind of vehicle was present, but no idea what kind. The barn gives no clues, there might have been able to park a small car in here, most likely not. And cars were not that common among ordinary people before WW2. A tractor is more likely. What a great find!
Do you know what vehicles may have been on the farm back in "the day"?
Gargoyle
As early as 1869, Vacuum Oil used a stylized red gargoyle to advertise petroleum-based lubricants for horse-drawn carriages and steam engines.
Thanks for the interesting information on the oil can. 1960++ sounds reasonable, regarding the condition. It was found near the edge of the floor, so it was possibly thrown under with some other metal trash at the time. That oil can ist a tremendous find.
Exxon-Mobile offers some information about their history.
Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company was divided into 33 companies by the US Supreme Court in 1911. Vacuum Oil was among these.
Since reading two names on the can, I would assume, it was manufactured after Norsk Vacuum Oil and Mobil Oil Norge fusioned in 1960. Also the state of slight corrosion would support this theory.
But anyway, not having gone too deep into this subject. So there will be far more to be dug out.

Some pics from today. Frame and half the roof left. Next stage involves some digging. To what extent i’ll decide when all of existing foundations are uncovered. The frame is 50% ok, some members needs replacement. A reinforcement is also needed due to a heavier roof.
Theoretically it can be snow here in a couple of months. Hope the winter can please let me finish the ground work first.
A little bit. It’s 25cm height difference, or about 10 inches.Looke like some leveling will be needed on that corner post nearest the camera, LOL.
Same here — winter is around the corner, and I’m already looking forward to spring so I can continue with the garage rebuild.Winter has not yet arrived, but now on serious overtime. By the end of this week the first snow will cover every ambition of progress in this project for the next 5 months.
So I was happy to see the ground well prepared this week. 70 cm of dirt removed, replaced with stone and gravel to a firm base.
Thank You. The vertical siding on the gable end is not representable. When I dismantled part of the barn for the new section, I just moved the siding and made a preliminary gable end to close the building. I need to do the project in two stages for logistic reasons.pals444
Good to see that you're able to get back on the barn project!
I noticed the vertical siding on the gable end of the barn seems to be boards longer than I'm used to seeing.
If you don't mind, could you tell me about the siding?
Thanks!

The drawing is accurate. I think maybe the perspective in the picture is a bit deceiving. The new part looks very narrow in the last photograph. It also doesn't reflect the drawings below. What are the dimensions of the new part?
