Your 72 is why I wanna sell the Camaro. Looking for something similar next.
Nice rides!

You do know - you CAN have more than one toy! lol . What are you actually looking for?

I am currently looking for a 67 or 68 shorty 4x4 for a future project. I do have a 70 short 4x4 basket case in another barn of ours. Originally from AZ.

Will change front clip if needed! :D

"Quite Aware" LOL ....Here's one of my other toys ... a 37 Chevy.

It is housed in what my 5 year old grandson calls "Grampa's Hot Rod Garage". Until this day last spring, he had only seen the car thru a window. It hadnt been driven in over 4 years.

I had the overhead door opened and he asking if it ran. I told him it did but wasnt sure if it would start. About 10 to 15 turns later, she fired right up.

This was his first time setting in the car..

First time going down the road. (you cant see my grandson, but he's in there) I had to laugh, after doing a small hole shot, he says to me. "You dont have to go so fast". To which I replied "If your going for a ride in Grampa's hot rod, we are going to go fast!" .

Wasnt much later, he kept asking me to go fast. Now about every time he comes over, he wants to go for a ride...he's hooked. :D

btw, nice Camaro trio! I used to have a 67 ss/rs, 4 speed. Sold it 10-15 years ago. Lots of times I wish I had it back.
oh well...... My wife says I cant have them all. I tell her I can try! :3gears:

Please tell me you kept all that old barnwood they tore off and lemme know when to be there with the trailer.;)

LOL.... Yep, we kept all of the old barn wood, altho some of it is in pieces. Our plans are to build a new wall and keep the cow stanchions in about the front 1/3 of the barn. This portion will get finished with the old exterioir barn boards.

There will be a new stairway to the haymow. The original- "1x4's nailed to the studs" - hay mow ladder will be kept. Some of the barn boards my get used up there as well.

Next up is looking for some original 3/4" floor decking for rotted portion of the mow.

Well, found a thread I can relate to! I'm currently restoring my 1900's 30'x40'gambrel roof barn. It's been a work in progress since most of my focus since buying the place in 2009 has been the inside of the house. With 4' of air space under the tongue and groove pine floor, it took about 130 tons of fill over the years to bring it up to grade above the driveway. I had the foundation redone back in 2010/2011 and the barn cabled up to draw straight. It had a pretty good lean goin on. Just finally got it concreted this last summer, 5" thick, and am working on building a higher 2nd floor. The current 2nd floor only leaves about 7' of headroom down stairs, the new floor will give me 12' and I'll have 2 10'x10' overhead garage doors. As much as I'd like to keep it painted wood, I'll likely end up doing steel siding. Garage doors are this spring, hopefully siding before next winter. But since I'm doing this all in cash out of pocket, it all depends how much money I have extra to spend on it.

Where are you located? The second floor I'm taking out of my barn is all 3/4" tongue and groove, a lot of it is still good. You can have all you want if you want to help me take it out when it's time.

Nice offer! I'm in NW IL. Where are you?

I do have a couple of leads on some flooring.. some already out and for sale(dont know the price yet).

Another guy dismantles old barns for the salvage rights. He has flooring and some square lime foundation stone I'd like to have for a retaining wall project. He is interested in trading some backhoe time for this material.

Here we are with "The Big MF" (as we call her) starting to cleanup our large White Pine tree that went down in the same storm that damaged the barn.

Oh, I'm in Western NY, bit of a haul for a floor lol. I just hate to see it go to waste when I remove it. The bottom floor was 1 1/2" yellow pine tongue and groove planks, 12' long. I wish I had a place to put them so I could reuse them. I ended up selling them, definitely wasn't going to burn them.

Well, its been over a month since anything exciting has happened on the barn. Looking at our schedule, and hoping to actually use it this summer, we decided to pay the contractor to build the basic deck. Took them half a day..

Already had our official "First beer initiation" night.

Since these pics were taken. I started mounting posts for railing. Hope to have it finished in the next month or so.

That is a great way to roof something like this, probably is harder on the driver due to just sitting there getting cold...the other guys are at least moving and working.

Amazing result, it looks good for another 100 years :) I am curious if gutters are in the future?

Matt,
Probably no gutters. We have a bit of a problem with the ground elevation in the front being too high. With the lay of the land, it is hard to get the elevation lower without changing the driveway height.

Right now we are planning to dig a trench about 18" wide and a foot or so deep in the front and the west (left from front) side. Planning to put drain tile in the bottom and filling the trench with river rock. This should let water drain and keep dirt from spattering on the barn when it rains.

Now if the weather would co-operate so I can work on posts and railing again.
