Old, beat-up, Snap-on toolbox

Can anybody tell me how to date an old snap-on toolbox? I can't imagine it's worth much, because someone welded a latch to it for a padlock and it's been repainted, (poorly), I just wonder how old it is. I use it every day, but it was given to me by an old boss, so I know nothing about it. Just curious.
