Not mine but for sale local. Just thought I should share since it looks so cool.

"from the ad"

This chest has been in the family at least 50 years. I don't know the history other than it was my grandfather's. My dad holds no sentimental value to it so I'm selling it for him.

The interior is beautiful! There is a large slot for the planes, 3 tool trays that drop in at different levels and slide plus a saw holder that drops in and also slides.
26 wooden molding planes (2 are disassembled) from companies like Ohio Tool, Auburn Tool, HL James, A Howland, and Eastely & Co.
1 Auburn screw arm plough/plow plane
2 Disston & Sons hand saws
There are a number of misc tools including a Keen Kutter, wooden slide rule, hand auger/drill, nail sets, plus more as shown in the pictures.

Nice.....

Those were the days...even spent the time to make a panelled lid to keep things straight.

Ran across a similar wooden machinist's box that had dovetailed corners and breadboard ends on the top.

Nobody has time to make that stuff any more.

That is more than likely over 100 years old. My grandfather (born 1890"s) went to school and graduated as an apprentice in 1907 and made a chest similar to that one as one of his school projects. I got it along with most of his tools, but not as nice an assortment as you got.. Keep that and try to find out more history about it. That is a treasure you have. That was back when all tools were cordless and you used muscle and sharp blades to do the work. Some of my granddad's tools I still use when I am an a woodworking mood.

What is the asking price?

Maui

Seller was asking $500 for 3 weeks, just updated the ad today and lowered the price to $450 and now it's deleted.

Hope it went to a good home and not get parted out!
