That patent isn't coming up easily in DATAMP. I see the 26-1898, what's the month?

That handle looks home made if it wasn't for the patent date. Looks like it's soldered on at the top. Strange.
Thinking maybe it became loose and was repaired.

For sure ed4banger can say more, but from my experience (as a now-retired inventor in my science career) the European Patent Agency often has better search capabilities than USPTO.

That's a nifty square -- I've not seen one like it before.
That's BS, I could beat any search coming out of the EPO, and my fellow examiner's agreed, EPO searches rarely yielded best prior art. In fact, I never even looked at their search results until I completed my own search, as I knew it wouldn't help me in examination of the US application.
Edit: Things have been changing though, so, you may be right for present day. When the USPTO made the decision to dump the US patent classification system and adopt the European system, they took all my years of experience and expertise and through them out the window. That's when I retired.

I found espace.net to have digitized a lot more data going back a lot farther than USPTO. I was able to find stuff faster and easier there. But then, I often knew an inventor or assignee and wasn't doing generalized prior art searching.
The search tools available to an examiner far exceed any readily available search tools the public has access to. Those tools I do miss, as I'm always wanting to search patents for old tools and vises and I can't, and its frustrating, not enough to go back to work though.......

If you wanted to, would it be available in one of the Patent and Trademark Resource Centers? They provide access to PubEast and PubWest. (Another former examiner here, but only for 2.5 years.)
Yes, as far as I know you could have access to East at a pub center. As an examiner I never used West. Thing is, with east, you can search the us classification system as well as EPO, US classification is not being updated, but as far as i know it was available to search at least to the examiners, and that is were I would start my search. JMHO.
